Id rather spend Zs money on bringing in a functional center.

The FA list for centers is very sad.

I agree it would be a mistake. You know why? Cause of our O-line coach. It would be different if we had even a bit
of faith in the guy coaching up a replacement for Zeitler, problem is who has faith in PA coaching up Westerman?

I really liked the Westerman pick but in order for him to replace Zeitler he would need to be coached up.

Zeitler is not a great Guard or anything but he is solid most of the time.

Exactly.  Bodine's deal is up after this year...They need to groom a replacement.  2nd round, Eflien?

As much as you guys are "iffy" on contract value... I am beyond "iffy" on confidence in a better replacement.

Solid and serviceable is like having top shelf talent with this wreck of an O-line coach.

Won't happen...his only apparent strength is his athleticism.  He has good feet, but very little power in the gas tank (his butt and legs).  He would get blown back more than Bodine, and that is saying something.

The two threads had aligned perfectly one on top of the other.  It read:

Letting Zeitler Walk Is A Huge Mistake

What We Can Learn From New England

They traded who was arguable the best guard in the game at that time as he was wanting a big FA deal, and they went with a draft pick.  They win championships, so they are afforded that "equity" to make such decisions.  Thus far, it seems to have worked.  They didn't pay top dollar to the BEST guard, so why should the Bengals pay top dollar to a guy that is, at best, a solid RG?

The Bengals can't let Dre walk, thanks to WJIII not getting any evaluation last year and Adam Jones being an idiot.  Dre better be careful, however, with all his tweets...that is not going to ingratiate himself to Katie and Troy in negotiations and he could wind up not being resigned if they can get a similar deal signed by one of the many FA CBs on the market.

This is true, plus the Patriots have the type of O-line coach that can coach up a draft pick unlike our guy.

Honestly, it just gets more and more assinine every day that they hold onto PA cause it just keeps costing us.

The thing is the salary cap is getting higher and higher. So of course contracts are going to b effected. Offer him 8.5, 9 mil.

The way the line was last year, I am terrified of what it would be if Z walks
