1. If Democrats are socialists then why do they supposedly have the backing of the most successful capitalists of our generation like investment mogul George Soros plus the "big tech" leaders Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Sundar Pichai (Google), Jeff Bezos (Amazon).

2. What do the "elite" gain from damaging our economy and forcing people to wear masks?

Because socialism in its bad, meaning its natural state, knows and has its oligarchs. The very few above the indistinguishable masses. Oligarchs that dream of a populace brought in line, stripped of individuality and freedom, fully dependant on their bread and circus like services.

The elites are not damaged, usually. Weren't in the big 2009 crisis, aren't now. Only the threats to their dominance are damaged. And forcing people to do as they are told is of course a welcome dominance tool. The obligatory mask is a symbol for said dominance.

This is of course not my opinion, but sums up answers that I heard.

2. The quacks I've heard talk about this claim that they want to destroy the economy and kill jobs so people will be dependant on the government for a living wage... Of course at this point AI takes over, and the elites watch their profits soar... Or something like that.

Democrats aren't socialists though...

1. Because most people don't understand what socialism is.

Anecdote: my family is mostly very right. My grandmother passed a few weeks ago. At the funeral, several were complaining that the government didn't do anything to help in the end (she had exhausted all their finances and it takes months to get medicare approved for a ltc facility). That segued into the two deputies in the family complaining the new administration was going to force them to start confiscating people's guns to pay for socialized healthcare and free college. I asked them why they were going to confiscate guns to pay for that (since the government wouldn't be able to sell them to us citizens) and the answer was "sell them to mexico."

So we went from "we should've had universal healthcare" to "they're taking your guns to pay for healthcare you don't need."

I really don't get the logic, and it's from people I care about.

2. Well, bezos and others have benefited a lot from the pandemic. No, I don't think they caused it, but in answering the question as stayed: money. If people can't go to a local shop to buy something, they've got to use Amazon, walmart pickup, kroger pickup, door dash, etc.
