2023 In-Season Roster Thread

I don’t get Johnson, you’ve got a prime opportunity to play significant minutes from week 1 if Ossai is out for 4 weeks on a Super Bowl chasing team.

Unless he’s got a poor attitude and spat the dummy out when he was told he didn’t make the 53 why wouldn’t he be back?

A chance to be on some team’s 53 vs the Bengals PS. I’d take the week 1 regular squad.

If the Bengals were his only option, I’m sure he’d be sitting on the PS right now

You back yourself to make an impact in the few weeks Ossai is out to the point where they don’t send you down to the PS.

Back yourself to make an impact and have a chance of winning a ring or end up in the 53 of someone like the Cardinals.

Yeah I really liked RJ3 as I'm sure all of us did. I was torn if it was gonna come down to him or Tufele and I really thought Tufele earned a spot on the team and we are thinner at DT. I also thought Tufele was the perfect example for RJ3 of just biding your time on the PS and stepping if your # is called and you'll be able to earn your way up. But if he did get an offer from another team then it's more than understandable that he take it and if it's a bad team even more of a chance for him to showcase what he can do. If he's just going to another PS than that sucks a little more but we are deep at DE so that might play a factor in his decision making.

The fact RJ3 hasn't landed on anyone else's squad already makes me think he might have a handshake deal to come back on Tuesday after someone gets an IR designation, and no other team has offered him a lot more.

you don't handshake deal with someone who is subject to waivers

besides...he had to pass a physical before signing with another team

The good news that by week 2 he is poachable if needed

But does he? If you're a guy hoping to get on a PS, you have several guys in front of you. He may have seen a better opp in Detroit.

The team obviously values the experience and good preseason that Jeff Gunter gave them over the good preseason they got from Johnson.

Kendric Pryor was released by the Jags.  The coaching staff really liked him last year.  He was better than Lassiter. Has 4.3 speed and could be another potential weapon for Burrow if needed.

Well, we added 2 to the PS, as others have pointed out. TE Zach Gentry from Pitt and rookie Edge Garrett Nelson, who was cut by the Dolphins after playing for Nebraska. We released LB Tyler Murray from the PS to make room.
