As to the highlighted, personally, I don't think that it's becoming the norm and I think it's a good thing that it's not getting much coverage (if it really isn't) because you don't want to glorify this kind of thing and make kids that already have issues (such as being neglected or bullied) think that it will make them some kind of celebrity, even if they plan on being killed while they do it.

You need to remember and honor the victims, but don't blow the incident up all over the internet and news.
