Quote:A failed Brooklyn Tea Party candidate with a history of fighting against LGBT rights, and who once campaigned with the slogan "Our children are our future," was arrested Thursday for possessing and sharing child pornography, The New York Post reports.

Following an anonymous tip, police raided the Brooklyn home of Joseph Hayon, 37, and confiscated two laptops, five desktop computers, a video camera, cell phone and one DVD.

After his arrest on Thursday, Hayon admitted to police that he traded photos of children between the ages of 2 and 12 as recently as December 2014 on the Internet.

According to the Post, he was released on $50,000 bail and has been barred from seeing his four children, ages 9, 7, 4 and 15 months.

Hayon, the founder of the ultra-conservative Brooklyn Tea Party, has a long history of fighting against LGBT rights.

In 2012 he lent his voice to a robocall that was targeted to reach Orthodox Jewish voters in Queens as part of a campaign for an anti-gay candidate running for state assembly.

"Based on previous statements made by Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rabbi Belsky, Rabbi Oelbaum, Rabbi Parnas of Landers College and over 50 prominent rabbis," Hayon said in the robocall, "it is a mitzva to vote for Robert Mittman, the only candidate supporting marriage between one man and one woman."

In 2011, he filed a lawsuit supporting two Kingsborough Community Colllege students' claim that the school attacked their right to free speech by interfering with their plans to hold a campus forum on the "negative consequences" of marriage equality.

As reported by The Advocate in 2010, he ran a "pro-family" campaign for state assembly in which he vowed to fight an order from Gov. David Paterson to recognize out of state same-sex marriages.

First of all; I've got to be careful about the "as has been mentioned" part. Because earlier in the week I was was scolded by the forum moderator that just because you mention that it doesn't mean you agreed with it. Often folks are just saying

No doubt freaks come in all shapes and sizes to include the judgmental. Just look how many on this forum judge people because of their beliefs.

I agree, it's not related. Though there are many on the anti-gay side of things that do equate being gay to being a pedophile. Not saying this guy was one of them, but it happens quite often.
