Are tariffs a viable option for protection in todays global economy
#21
Honestly, we're due for another recession. The cyclical nature of the economy is a nasty one. We haven't done much to cushion the blow after the Great Recession, and doing things that could possibly exacerbate the situation isn't the best idea. We lowered tax rates from already historic lows, so if a recession hits the best government tools of cutting taxes and increasing spending are going to be difficult to use.

We've spent the last ten years half-assing all sorts of things in push towards recovery, but our government hasn't done what they need to do in order to secure our financial future.
