Bearcat Basketball

I watched the UC Bearcats beat SMU last night in a close game. I'm rooting for them over Xavier this year. I'd like to see the Bearcats go deep in the March tournament. Not a final 4, but could be a sweet 16.

I really like this year's team--the unselfishness, the wicked defense.  Definitely Mick's best team yet.  If they can score night in, night out, they can hang with anybody.

I like a lot about them except their free throw shooting. It needs to improve a lot. You can't give 4-5 points away in tournament games.

No doubt.

Bearcats beat Xavier tonight 86-78. Bearcats missed a lot of free throws. Better work on those.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Except for free throw shooting, an excellent game for UC. UC shot 50 percent from the field. Won the boards 42-33. Blocked 9 shots. Committed only 8 turnovers. And came back from 8 down at halftime. On the other side, what a game by Bluiett...40 points.

This is a team that has inside and outside scoring, rebounding, excellent shot blockers, on the ball defense, great unselfishness, guys who can make the big shot, experienced guys who can play, young guys who can play. And they're improving as a team as the year goes on. Free throw shooting is the one weakness. But maybe they keep working on it and it improves.

Trying not to get too excited about them. I am a Cincinnati sports fan, after all. But this is a good team with great chemistry.

Also, Huggie's got a helluva team in WV. Nobody wants to go up against that D.

mick cronin will not be UC's coach much longer with how well he's done fielding that team. a lot of teams out there that will snatch him away from UC. however, UC got snubbed by the big-12 conference, as did ev1 else. UC needed that badly to take the next step. the AAC will never offer competition needed for rpi or bpi rankings. also, eff huggins and wvu. eff osu and thad matta. eff iu and crean. eff pitino and ul. cbb is where it's at!

UC won tonight, but lost to SMU in their second meeting. I'm thinking UC cruises to a 4, 5, or 6 seed for the March tournament. Xavier may end up a 9 or 10 seed.

SMU seems to be their Achilles heel.

Bearcats beating up Tubby Smith and Memphis tonight. I'm still thinking a sweet 16 team. Xavier may win the NIT.

Tubby was a flop at Kentucky, why would Memphis think that he would be any better there?

Maybe Tubby has name recognition, but not game recognition.

He did win a title, didn't he?

He did, in his first season with the team.  He then went 9 straight seasons of not reaching the final 4.  UK fans are greedy, anything less than a final 4 appearance is considered a down year. LMAO

Bearcats not looking good yesterday. Better get it together for the tournament. Probably still a solid 5 seed.
