Bengals Weekly Gamblin' Thread
#1
2023 means New Year...new ways to lose money!

Now that sports gambling is legal in Ohio, I figure it could be fun to maybe discuss some of the weekly bets we are going to make on (or against) our Bengals. We can also discuss and dissect bet opportunities we see. I value a lot of your guys' opinions, and no one knows this team like we do (other than Vegas, heh).

I signed up for the Barstool bet app today and have $100 in bonus money to play around with.

First up: Bills vs. Bengals

I don't love the line on the game but have been looking at some player props. I see a couple sneaky good value ones:

Boyd +300 to score a TD
Burrow +410 to score a TD

The Bills struggle to cover the slot and I think Boyd could be in for a decently large game with them focusing their attention on Higgins and Chase. I was between taking this and Hurst at +310 but I feel like Hurst's snaps could be limited and they may still be trying to work him in. The only thing that gives me pause on this is Boyd's finger. Is he going to play the entire game this time or reaggravate it like the Pats game? Another week of healing should help.

The Burrow to score a TD bet...well, I think Joe has had a sneaky good year rushing for TDs (5). The Bills don't give up a ton of red zone passing TDs (bottom 5 in the league) - so this one is more of about feel, opportunity, and value (+410!) than anything. I kind of want to go big since its essentially $100 in free money.

So, what do you all think about the above? What bets are you looking at (if any)?

Be safe with it. Gambling has destroyed my life recently, and almost cost me everything I have close.

Damn man - I am sorry to hear that.

I've been sports gambling for years and just do low wager stuff - taking advantage of promos recently and only bet on "big games". I can def see how someone could go down the rabbit hole, though. Hope you rebound brother.

I signed up for some of the free bets they offer. Don’t plan on going crazy with it but I bet on the bengals to win and bet on Samaje to score a TD.

Fanduel had that offer where it's basically a "please sign up and deposit money, you will win this bet", for Ohio only, of there being at least 1 point scored in the Bills/Bengals game. That's an auto-win so long as the game doesn't end in a 0-0 tie.

Other than that I have two same game parlays that I feel pretty decently about with one obviously being a longer shot than the other....

+113
Joe Burrow Alt Passing Yards (250+)
Ja'Marr Chase Alt Receiving Yards (50+)
Josh Allen Alt Passing Yards (200+)
Josh Allen Alt Rushing Yards (25+)

+1850
Bengals Moneyline
Ja'Marr Chase Receiving Yards OVER (81.5)
Ja'Marr Chase Anytime TD
Stefon Diggs Receiving Yards OVER (73.5)
Stefon Diggs Anytime TD

...the only part of the second one I think will be iffy is the Stefon Diggs TD. He's a streaky scorer, but it's also been 3 weeks since he scored, so he's probably due to start a new streak. The first parlay should be pretty easy.

Of course always be careful gambling everyone, don't bet huge amounts and don't bet what you can't afford to lose. Think of it more as paying for entertainment than a way to make money.

That’s pretty risky betting on Samaje to score. I made the following bets, $5 ea:

Joe Mixon TD
Burrow over 280yds
Bengals over 24pts
Bengals +2.5

I’m kind of new to this bet slip thing. I wanted to do a parley of my 4 bets with 1 bet but didn’t know how, so I made individual bets.

It should just automatically stack up for you until you actually make the bet if it is anything like my experience. You add the thing you want to bet on, it says something like "added to bet slip" and then you just keep on going adding more things without making the actual bet until you're finished. Should be able to remove things from there too.

I dont bet on games...I cant handle the swings. A late garbage touchdown, a late meaningless field goal, a late kneel down when the team is on the goal line are all common ways that you can go from winner to loser. I understand that the opposite is true however, gambling on games is not a good long term retirement strategy

You have 30 days to use it. I joined fanduel Sportsbook and got $200 free bets. I’m going to hang on and go big on something a little less risky than Bengals/Bills.

Oh yeah, if anyone is thinking of joining Fanduel, throw me a PM and I will give you a referral code. Gives us both $100 in free bets.

It’s not risky if it’s a free bet lol. I had 8 $25 free bets I had to use in 7 days from Draftkings. Used 4 on safe bets that should pay out about $100 profit. Took the other four and went for big payouts, two parley’s and then picked DK Metcalf (didn’t happen) and Perine to score TD’s. Didn’t expect to hit on any of those ones but it’s a lottery ticket.

Does anybody know if you can withdraw the money you won on the free bets I hit a single game bet on the Giants and a 3 team parlay(Giants, Lions, Chargers) it’s my understanding that you have to bet the money you won then I If you win anything w that money you can withdraw it

Most bonuses are scams.  The fine print will say something like "bonus earnings have to roll over 6 times before it can be withdrawn, and that means the whole amount.  Now, some of these brand new state wide promotions might be different, but in the past all bonuses are to be avoided.  The chances you winning six straight bets are very slim.  And say you won 5 of the 6, you still end with zero.
