Bengals in the mix for Trent Williams?

What could possibly go wrong with signing a guy like this.

If a player can't deal with trash talk without throwing punches then he is not much of a man.

Fred you take that back right now or I’m gonna start throwing punches! Tongue

Bengals new WR Mike Thomas is a good one. I had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for a second source and even then neither were media guys who didnt break it until the next day. It was late...

I’m not pushing for us to trade for Trent Williams but his situation is way more complicated than Glenn’s was. He had developed a growth on his head that turned out to be a type of cancer. The Redskins medical staff told him it was not serious and there was a good chance he would’ve died had he kept suiting up.

I think that’s a legitimate gripe to sit out the season and demand a trade. Oh, and Dan Snyder is the worst owner in all of professional sports. So let’s stop disrespecting him with the Cordy Glenn comparisons.

I would be all for "kicking the tires" on Trent Williams if he can pass a physical.

The other side of the coin is that Williams had a rare form of cancer.  The Redskins team doctors are going to be focused in sports medicine and rare cancers are well outside of their field of expertise.  Theiy claim to have told him that he should seek a second opinion from a specialist and he put it off.

At the end of the day, his play has been on the decline and that's before he basically took a year off from football.  The skins have turned down multiple trade offers for him and he is rumored to be seeking a new deal worth over $20 mil a year.  Not worth it, imo.

I agree.  He would add some vet leadership to the line as well as give let them move Jonah to the right side. And develop a RT from draft.
But if they go for Trent, then they are looking at solving the problem for multiple years.

Awesome, thanks Au165. Hope we land Peters for a 2 year deal or something.

Then Whit was the same right? I seem to recall him throwing some haymakers.

You know that was much different Mike, Whit was protecting his QB and Henderson was trying to poke out his EYEBALLS! Say What

Not the point.

If a man cant deal with trash talk and play on the field with out throwing punches the hes not a man right?

And I have no issues with someone punching a trash talker in the mouth.  Some of those guys cross the line. Like the ones that smack talked about Steve Smith's wife while she was battling cancer.  That's unacceptable talk to me.

Completely agree with that. Also that Ramsey must of said something terrible to make AJ beat on him like that lol

I'd say there's a strong chance he ends up in Cleveland when it's all said and done. Keep getting articles on my phone about it. Browns waiting for the price to come down from where it stands, which is a second round pick.

Naw, Damond Talbot / NFLDraftDiamonds broke that:

Everyone else, including that account, got their info from there.

The ProFootball411 twitter account posted this a couple hours ago:

#Bengals something we have reported for a few days OT Trent Williams talks heating back up. #Redskins

I find it hard to believe they'd trade a high pick for him unless it's flipping of picks or maybe a player. Looking at their roster, they have a pretty big hole at CB and the Bengals gutted their CB room by adding 5 CBs this offseason. I wonder if both William Jackson and Dre are on the block.

Aren't we pretty close in draft position? I'd imagine it would probably be somewhere in the range of a 2nd to a 4th, but there's been some crazy trades this offseason. Maybe they end up getting him cheap.

They pick 2nd in some of the rounds. From the little I've read about their situation, it sounds like teams haven't been offering much, just mid-round compensation but haven't been shy with offering a big contract.

I'm warming to the idea of trading for him, signing him to a team-friendly extension for 3 years, and cutting bait with Hart.

Not sure how reliable this info is, but this would be amazing. From a fan of 40 years that was ready to call it day with my fandom of this team, I'm excited for the first time in many years. I don't even care if they suck or not at this point...at least they are trying something different. They have earned my fandom back regardless of how this season turns out.

Seems unlikely he'll be gotten on the cheap with all the talk about the Skins wanting a 2nd.  That #33 is the key to our whole draft.

Then, factor in that he is demanding a new deal.

I still think he ends up in Cleveland.  They love the big names up there.

Thanks for this, exciting stuff. The thing is if we do bring in Trent I don't know if he would play RT so we would have to move Jonah.

Heard Peters is willing to play RT...

Would be happy either way though. Cool
