Bengals sign Moss, Cut Mixon

He is a hard to bring down power runner who works very well inside, is a good pass blocker and thrives in short yardage down and distance. We're getting him at age 26 but more importantly without a lot of wear on the treads. This is an upgrade at RB flat out and a better fit for the scheme to boot.

Not to mention he could solve one of our biggest issues..short yardage conversions.

The YAC is a big one. You can knock Mixon over with a feather.

No doubt. Zack Moss is a major upgrade in yards after contact and is a much better pass protector.

Mixon's balance was also sub par here. We are upgraded in everything but ball security and pass catching and Moss hasn't been bad
in these areas either.

This is definitely a good move by the Bengals and the backfield should be quite better next season overall.

I wonder if the 205 was his "official" weight coming into the draft and the 223 is what he currently plays at?

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

That's what I think because he looks a lot bigger than 205.

223 was his Combine weight.

You are exactly correct.  I didn't even think to check his draft profile, wish that I had earlier as it's pretty good.

Swap it.
He was in the 220's going into the draft and he was most recently listed at 205 as of last year.
He looks bigger than 205 because he's so short.

Yeah, he is even shorter than Perine, nothing wrong with that though. Shorter RB's are hard to see behind big OL's.

FWIW I heard an Analyst on TV today say that Moss was playing at 212 pounds. (I forget which Analyst said it)

The thing about the Combine weight is that players usually want to do well in the 40 so they probably get in

Great shape to test well and there he was 223.

Moss, says he is a down hill runner who loves coming out of the shotgun, The marriage with Cincinnati seemed natural on that basis alone.

Surprisingly, he has yet to hear from JoeyB

JoeyB will talk to him soon I am sure. This is the perfect RB for what he likes to do. But I do hope he took notes of how unpredictable
the Offense was when he was out and Browning was in playing under Center. But the thing was, Mixon wasn't good at all running out of
the Shotgun, so we should be more unpredictable right there with an actual threat at RB in Moss.

Yeah, his media interview was superb! He was articulate and communicated very well.

Not going to pile on JMix because he definitely done some good things here, but he always sounded like a grown teenager in his pressers.

Moss sounds like a grown ass man that wants to win and has already watched some Bengal RB tape. He mentioned that there are/were holes that could be exploited. That's a nod to making the first defender miss and taking it for a strut. We been missing that first part much too often.
