Ok that's understandable, you will see a lot of them coming in the next week or 2. Good thing is you can still cut the guy before the following season so using the extension now is really just giving you an option to decide what to do with the guy after next offseason. Cut, extended or let him play out

yes for the 5th year options teams must pick them up before the start of the 4th year.
gives us an extra year for his pricy contract.
