Best Draft Moments
#1
In case you didn't get to watch the draft, I wanted to highlight some of the nicest moments.
*Note: I watched on NFL.com and only through Round 5 so I may have missed a few things too.

1. Ryan Shazier walking across the stage

We all know what happened to Ryan Shazier last year... it was a horrible injury. It was really amazing to see him walk across the stage to announce the Steelers pick. It also made me cringe to think about how dangerous football can be; that injury was almost 6 months ago.

2. The Orlando Brown selection by the Ravens

Orlando Brown's late father played 6 years for the Ravens and this pick just felt like a really special way to honor him. Also, the fact that Orlando Brown Sr.'s teammate, Edwin Mulitalo, made the announcement was incredible.

3. Shaquem Griffin gets to play with his brother

We've all been following Griffin throughout the draft process. It's pretty cool that he was drafted by the same team as his twin brother. I remember Michael and Martellus Bennett (and the McCourteys) talking about wanting to play on the same team together in the NFL. Both brothers were crying after the pick.

4. Connor Williams' reaction to being drafted

Everything felt right about this moment. Connor Williams is from Dallas, was able to attend the draft in his hometown, and was drafted by his favorite team. Williams was really emotional and rightfully so... very special for him.

5. The Bengal picks of course

That's why we watched the draft, right? Overall, the Bengals had a good draft haul. Additionally, I thought both TJ Houshmandzadeh and Michael Johnson represented the organization with a lot of class when announcing the selections; they didn't go over the top like some of the other announcers (ala David Akers). If Michael Johnson does end up being cut, I'll always have a lot of respect for him as a person.

There were three really cool moments I wanted to bring up.

The Bills 3rd round selection when they brought up Pancho Billa, who just had chemo the week before, onto the stage to announce that pick was special.

I also liked the Broncos first round selection when they had 17 year old cancer survivor Austin announce their pick. Dude was a natural.

And I also liked in the 6th round when the Eagles let one of their fans who had autsim announce their pick. I work in that field and personally I just really loved that moment.

Ah yeah! Those were really nice too. I didn't see the 6th round one but I enjoyed the other two.

It was funny to an extent, but he went a little overboard in my opinion... especially since he wasn't even on the Super Bowl team.

Don't forget the parrot Tsa Tsa for the Buccaneers. Everyone expected the parrot to actually announce the pick but all it did was sit on a woman's shoulder and squawk once while she announced the pick. Hilarious

The Shazier thing was stupid and cringeworthy.

Good for the dude he is walking again. Not good for the NFL image. Here look kids this could be you in your mid 20s. Not the best platform to show a recovery imo.

I used to love the draft when they actually talked about the players. I dont watch the draft to see a bunch of bullshit. It is about the players getting drafted. Talk about the players wtf man. Its to the point its almost ruining it for me watching it on tv. Better off just reading about it online

I'm telling you, although I am far from a fan of Bodine, I can't help but think the guy's strength would have been much better utilized in the new scheme.  He was durable, and he was the center for those last two games where the rushing attack worked.

The signing of McCarron (even if he will likely only get one year, if that...he will finally get his shot, with the majority of the snaps, etc).

The trade with the Bengals for Cordy Glenn.

The signing of Preston Brown, their former MLB.

The donations to Andy's cause after helping send them to the playoffs.

There has been so much back and forth between the two teams and when I saw what they did for this guy, I can't help it.  I am rooting for them in 2018.  Yes, miles behind the Bengals at #1, and still behind the Browns at #2 (I'm weird), but I want the Bills to do well this year.

Yeah, seeing Shazier walk like that was scary. His playing days are over, obviously.

But, he did it to himself by leading with his head, as he has done many times before causing injury to other players. It backfired on him.
