Bi-partisan Immigration Bill
#1
Better hurry up and get it done. Probably going to need the authority to shut the boarder down here soon.

https://apnews.com/article/mexico-heat-wave-howler-monkeys-dying-b99e0570dfb53a2fb7ebe663acecde78

“It’s so hot in Mexico that howler monkeys are falling dead from the trees.”

https://x.com/BMcNoldy/status/1792493096111886674

“Aside from crazy-2023, the heat index has ALREADY spent more time above the 108°F threshold (and tied for the most at 110°+) in #Miami than in *any other entire year*. And it's not even June yet.”

https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/noaa-confirms-4th-global-coral-bleaching-event
“The world is currently experiencing a global coral bleaching event, according to NOAA scientists. This is the fourth global event on record and the second in the last 10 years.”

If it’s so hot animals are dropping dead… I imagine a few people will try to escape that. Call me crazy. But I see a big driver of immigration.

Uhh. You sure?

This says ONE Republican voted for the BIPARTISAN border bill.

Two of the people who voted against it wrote it. wtf?

This is supposed to be the best toughest bipartisan immigration bill since like 1986. And our shitty ass two party system is screwing us over to play politics.

ZOMG! The immigration system is a disaster, the boarder is chaos and we are being invaded! Here vote on this let’s do something about it. No.

Unreal.

Too worried about getting out for the long weekend I suppose.

They could introduce this same bill a year from now and if Trump is president I would not be shocked to see all R’s vote yea and D’s nay. Stupid

Seems like it was rejected in a bi-partisan effort.

The country is coming together.

Can’t blame Biden for everything. All republicans had to do was vote yes on a bill one of their own helped write. But somehow them voting to do something about the #1 problem they complain about is asking too much. So once again. Instead of doing what’s best for the country, they chose to do nothing in an effort to gain power.

Just ridiculous.

And definitely not this time. A used car salesman from Columbia for senate? And a criminal conman for potus. Never getting my votes

Because is wasn't that great of a bill in the first place. It was also written in haste cause it was initially part of the Ukraine/Israel aid package.

They worked on it for months. And this was just a procedural vote to begin debate on the bill. So it could have got better I'm guessing.

They have cried invasion and open boarders for years. Then they get a chance to work on a solution to the problem, debate, and improve a bipartisan bill that would address the issue they say is destroying the country. And they thumbed their nose at us. It's their job.

It’s freaking May. Either the problem isn’t as bad as they are constantly crying about or they don’t give a shit about our problems they are only in it for themselves.

Since when has either side wanted to do something that Might make the other look good?

Anyways, the bill isn't that great, yes it gives POTUS power to close the border if a threshold is reached. Problem is, it's not a complete shutdown, still have to keep letting people in that meet "criteria" and you and i know that everyone will say whatever to meet that criteria, so it's rather stupid. But the first part makes for a great selling point.

Next, do you really want them spending $1B upgrading the detention centers? The purpose should be to LOWER the numbers coming in, vs making room for more.

This isn't as crazy as you think, but it's usually reserved for losers like Jimmy Carter, George HW Bush, and John McCain (to name a few).  Alas, folks who play the game and want to win know that putting reality or results above your own path to "success" is a blunder.

I'll always remember hanging out with my conservative GF and her parents during the 2008 election cycle and when John McCain refuted that Obama was a dangerous Arab and instead said that it was important to focus on policy, they knew he was cooked then.  I asked if they believed Obama was a dangerous Arab, and they said no (in a sort of scoffing "of course I don't believe that" manner) but McCain needed to say it was true in order to win.
