I recently had a salaried position offered to me.  Sure, it would have been nice to get full pay for slow weeks, but I also worked for this man for 7 years, with a different company.  Whenever there's anything of the slightest significance going on, he's the one to call at 8, 9 o'clock at night, and say he needs x,y, and z done by 9 a.m.  The offer is still currently on the table, but I really like my current position where if I do work more than 40, I get a little bump for the pay period.

Well, the implication is that they aren't paid for overtime (hence why working 60 hours pushed their hourly rate below 15 dollars per hour).
