Computer generated child pornography
#1
Interesting debate in the legal field.

There are two theories as to why child pornography should be illegal. The first one is to protect children from sexual exploitation. Pretty much 100% of people agree that no one should be allowed to use children in pornography. The other theory is that allowing people to look at child pornography will make them more likely to be sexual predators. This theory is not as universally accepted.

The reason this is important is that now people can make computer generated pornographic images of children that look 100% real, but never involve using real children.

So should computer generated child pornography still be illegal even though it does not involve the exploitation of any real children?

It's the principal of it that is wrong imo so yes I think It should still be illegal. The people that enjoy child porn are still getting the same satisfaction regardless.

There is mainstream pornography that intentionally suggests youth and uses real actresses/actors who look unusually young. I haven't heard anybody saying that should be banned. Just a side note.

I guess I'm not exactly sure what "computer generated" CP actually is. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure I want to. If we're talking about 3D cartoons, no, it should not be banned. If we're talking about stuff that looks exactly like the real thing... I'll leave that determination up to people who have stronger stomachs than I do.

Oddly enough it was the Dubya Bush administration that determined that rendered forms of CP, such as lolicon, was protected under the first amendment.  I could be mistaken (and I really don't think I am), but as long as there are no real people involved digital, written or drawn representations of this nature are not illegal.

Interesting subject.

Like you (I'm sure), I find the thought of computer generated child porn reprehensible. However, I also see the legal argument. You would have to prove in court that just viewing (specifically) computer generated child porn would make someone more likely to become a sexual predator. I'm not sure that you could do that at this time without any history or cases.

Ultimately, I think the issue goes to the court of public opinion and legislation is created against computer generated child porn.

Didn't the Anime/Manga group go through this already a few years back?

This is an interesting debate for sure.

It makes me sick that people actually make this garbage.

I would say no to this because is there even a way to tell if it's faked or not? And really even if it is faked .... Do we really need to let off these degenerates? Once they are used to fake kiddie porn then they will want to go a step further.

Is that true?  Don't you think porn of all types allows people to get their rocks off and get on with their lives (until they need to get their rocks off again)?  Saying child porn will desensitize people to the point where they will have to up the ante is like saying adult porn inspires rape, or violent movies inspire people to go on killing sprees.

The problem with child porn and pedophilia is that the whole thing is so reprehensible that we just want to pretend it doesn't exist until someone offends and then we want to cast that person into the bowels of hell and plug our ears and close our eyes until it happens again.  I don't mean to seem "soft on CP" but I happen to think our current system of refusing to look into alternatives is putting more innocents at risk.

Just my 2 cents.  Anyways, I'm off to check out some socially-acceptable porn now.

Who are we to judge? Nobody is hurt if these folks look at these animations. Being a pedophile is not illegal

So you are tracing the dawn of mankind's sexual deviancy to late-night showings of "Hung Jury" in the mid 1990s?

To muddy the pool a little, another thought. I keep reading how the Japanese keep working toward creating highly realistic "sex robots". I'm sure that this is probably an eventuality. What happens when they develop one and there is a demand for child-sized models? Ugly and reprehensible? Absolutely, IMO. But should that be legal or illegal? Would it be 'therapeutic' or a 'gateway' to illicit actions in real life?

Taking that line a step further, what about the guy who has to replace his sex robot (either child-sized or full-sized) every other week because he has a penchant for using them as a punching bag before or after having sex with them? It is not an actual person. Yet the behavior is so outside of civility.

I am not offering answers for this, just throwing it out to see what other people think. When should society step in and when should it stay out?

On a 100% serious note.  The entire industry of home video owes its existence to pornography.  In the early days of the technology the biggest money maker was home video pornography.

Robot technology will be the same.  It will be expensive at first, but massive amounts of money and research will be going toward creating high end sex toys.
