Sometimes folks just try too hard and wind up looking silly.

Sure.  Because nothing says we don't have a culture that loves guns more than anything else than that.

I don't get it.  Did I post a hoax story or something?

I've actually not seen any porno's with women making love to guns.

Then again, I don't subscribe to "Jugs & Ammo"

No.  You just posted something outside of his belief sphere.  He'll be OK after a few more posts pretending things like that don't happen / don't matter.

Of course you do.  even though I am 100% certain that you did not even read the NYT op-ed.

You never read anything.  You just blindly agree with whatever certain sources tell you to.

Would you agree with some measure of gun control that still allows sane, law-abiding citizens to own guns for hunting and self-defense?

I don't believe in gun control at all.  Even insane people need to protect themselves from insaner people, right?

Agreed.

Why is Erick afraid he can't pass a background check if they pass a background check?

Yeahhh, you only have to fear background checks if you have something to hide.

I guess my issue with those against gun control is that no regulations I have seen proposed with any sincerity would prevent a citizen's ability to defend themselves. Any law abiding person would still be able to own and carry a firearm. It may not be the latest and greatest tactical pistol, but most self defense scenarios are over in 2-3 shots. Most being over 95%.

I don't know what needs to be done, what I do know is that the hyperbole that gun control is taking away our rights ("well regulated" anyone?) or that it would leave us unable to defend ourselves is flawed.

That is my issue as well.
