So by count, that's (1) a competent QB, (2) The GOAT Bengals RB, (3) an all-decade FB, (4) four of the best WR's in team history, (5) a top 3 TE in Bengals history, (6) an all-decade LT, (7) probably the best C in team history and (8) the best RT in team history.

With all of that, Bratkowski produced an offense that was 23rd in yards and dead last in points. Shut out 3 times.

It's only 1 game ... under a different OC (which was Gruden, correct?) but it shows that Dalton CAN overcome GB's defense. Though, let's be honest, back then it was more of wondering if our defense could slow down Rodgers.

Here's to hoping that Lazor can come close to replicating that production from Dalton.

Our defense won that game in the end by recovering a fumble and returning it for a TD to take the lead. It then came back out on the field and stopped the GB offense. Just saying.

Lol, that's hilarious that you call warrick one of the best bengals WR ever.

Chad and TJ were both rookies and kit a was a journeyman at they point. Outside of Dillion, Neal, and some olineman they offense was not good.

Warrick is 11th in receiving in franchise history (among WR's) and he only played just over 4 years due to injury cutting his career short. Warrick was a good receiver. One of the best we've ever had. Despite you thinking otherwise, Darnay was also good and so was Tony McGee. Yeah, Chad and TJ were rookies, but they were targeted a combined 102 times. They were part of the offense. Kitna was competent. The backfield was arguably the best in team history. The line had some greats. 

We had way too many good/competent pieces to be fielding an offense that finished dead last in points scored, with 3 goose eggs.

Looking for a bounce back game for Dalton even though he will be pressured often.

Minus having two weapons out, no excuse for this offense to not perform. This will be true proof if our offensive line is trash like we all believe it is. Two of their most powerful pass rushers will be out. Dalton shouldn't be abused nearly as much.

Ok, so....


11th in receiving yards (among WR's) equates to 2,811 yards... or less than 100 more than Jermaine Gresham.  Warrick might have been a ok WR 3/4, but being drafted where he did, that is borderline bust.  injuries or not - see chris perry and maybe eifert.   When you consider 11, one of the best you ever had - that is kind of sad.  

Darnay scott was a fine WR, and mcgee was also fine.  


in 2001, 6 of the top 7 Leaders in catches had a catch rate of 60% or less.

In 2016, after losing Sanu and Jones, only 1 player failed to catch less than 60% and that was lafell with 59.8%.  

So either the skill players couldn't catch in 2001, or Kitna wasn't very good... it has to be at least one or the other, but i think it is a combination of both.   Speaking of Kitna, he played 15/16 games the two years before signing with the bengals and had ratings in the 70's.  Decent backup - terrible starter.  Think Ryan Fitzpatrick.  Except maybe not as good.  

And since you said the OL had some all time greats (with an S), who outside of Anderson would be considered an all time great anywhere?  Webb, Dwyer, Braham, Goff?  Braham was good no doubt, but hard to consider him an all time great.   

Anyway, i'm not trying to defend Brat, but that 2001 team was atrocious all the way arouound.  Think of it this way, in 2003 he took largely the same group of guys and turned them into a competent offense.  in 2003 Chad was a Beast and Warrick was a good number 2.  Jon Kitna had a good year behind a much improved OL and the bengals drastically improved. 

But to think 2001 was anything close to talented is LOL.  

Anyway, going to night, tired of reading about the politcs.  Whodey bengals fans.
