DeSantis squats squatters with new law

I had no idea squatting was an issue. I used to have a house in Mason and a condo in Florida. I was only able to use it 3 to 5 weeks a year due to running my business. Squatters could have broken my locks, moved in and I would have been thrown in jail if I threw them out and changed the locks. This is crazy and I hope every state looks at their squatter laws.

Florida now has a law banning squatters (they will be arrested) and if they do more than $1000 in damage the charge goes from a misdemeanor (slap on the wrist) to a felony (prison).

I would have regardless of party we can all agree a squatter or group of people (some charge rent to others) should have more rights than the people who own the property rights.
