Possibly. Initially I thought tulsi gabbard

None of them are as good as the GOP women list. Nikki Haley, Condi Rice, Susanna Martinez.

Haley will be Sec of state during Trumps second term which will put her in position to run 2024/2028

Yeah Duckworth would be a good choice.

They aren’t being written off for being democrat. They are too extreme.

The names I see the most are Kirstin Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Pocahontas and Amy Klobuchar. All way too extreme or have made clowns of themselves.

There was a book.  The 6 black presidents.  Good read.

No they didn't. Claims to past presidents being part black all have roots in racist allegations made by their critics with absolutely no evidence to back them up. Modern genealogy has disproven that.

My point was that some people will never vote for a Democrat.  Some will never vote for a woman.  Some will never vote for anyone except a white male Christian.

I would suggest that they are probably small minded, name callers and bigoted...but I don't know all of them that fall in the group that wouldn't vote based on those traits.

If 2016 taught us anything it's that people will vote for morally bankrupt and inexperienced candidates if they have the right letter at the end of their name. They'll justify it with "give them a chance" as the candidate calls people names and talks about his penis during debates.

I do agree there are small minded folks that vote for someone based solely on skin color. I personally saw a lot of it in 2008 and 2012.

I also saw a lot of folks voting for a candidate in 2016 based solely on gender. Hell Madaline Albright said there was a special place in hell for folks that did not.

No doubt.

Filed under two wrongs don't make a right in my book.

I voted for Clinton because she was a better person and candidate than the other choice I had (no, 3rd party was not a choice I had).

But certainly many Democrats voted for Clinton just because she was a Democrat too.  And I'm sure there those who voted to have the first female POTUS too.

The Obama example I have wrestled with for one reason:  While he CLEARLY got the lion's share of the minority vote it wasn't his "fault" that he was black.  Which is hard to explain while typing...lol.  I think his rising to the nomination encouraged a lot of minorities who thought they would never see a black man in that position and that inspired them to vote for him more than any policy that they could name.  And, McCain while not a horrible candidate had his own problems...including his choice of VP.  So while minorities may have voted for Obama JUST because he was black it wasn't only because of his skin color but because of his story and his being there and his serving as something to aspire to that they had not seen in their lifetime.  Again, hard to fully explain my inner discussion on this.

(Full disclosure:  I voted for McCain in 2008.  I wanted him to POTUS in 2000 and I gave him that vote in 2008 despite Palin being on the ticket.)

I think in the end we got the better President with Obama...but we don't know what McCain would have/could have done either.

I disliked Trump long before he ran for office.  How people believed his lines/lies and were willing to overlook his shortcomings is still beyond me.

I understand the "Not another Clinton" crowd, and the minority that feed off of conspiracy theories, but Trump is a proven commodity...and he's a proven fraud.

Women made up the same share of voters in 2012 and 2016, but only 54% of women voted for Clinton where 55% voted for Obama.

The share of black voters in 2012 was 13% versus 12% in 2016. Black voters went 92% to Obama and 89% to Hillary. In 2008 they made up the same share (13%) and voted 95% in favor of Obama.

You can make the argument that some people voted for Obama based on race at first, but you can't make the same about Hillary and gender.

And I wasn't making the point that she got the lion's share of female votes, just that I am sure some people voted for her solely because she was a woman.  Just like some voted against her simply because she was a woman.

But I am surprised the numbers were not larger.

You and others here constantly call me all those things and yet I have voted for democrats and women.

Maybe you should takes less time calling normal people names and come to the fact their world doesn’t revolve around skin color or gender. A lot of people vote values. Democrats just do not have a lot of those core American values in their platform.

Normal people don't call all people from Africa and the Middle East "savages", mock children, and defend Nazis.

Everything you post revolves around skin color and gender. You're constantly going on tirades about those who do not have the same skin color as you or the same beliefs about gender roles as you.

First, someone can be all of those things (or some of those things) in relation to something other than voting.  Like hiring, equal rights, gay marriage, etc.

Secondly,  if you are not one of those people I was talking about then I was not talking about you.  Cool

Without a doubt obama got the uninformed black people voting, which was a good thing they finally participated. I wished he did more to encourage them to make a culture change instead of just allowing them to continue to play the victim card.

Hillary was just a terrible candidate. Her only shot of winning was vs McCain after the country hated bush. Still, then she may have even lost to him.

Dems have a real bench problem. You can’t win a general being extreme. Dems like Harris, booker, Pocahontas all come off cartoonish. Bernie as well but he is sort in that weird trump space. His problem is that he is a pure socialist.

What qualifies them? Surprised you are putting up Michelle obama, since the last First Lady the dems ran went so well. Although Michelle does have those great shoulders And the herb garden.

Actually liberals have shown they represent the majority on most "core value" issues over the years.

How did conservative do when they opposed womens right to vote and interracial marriage?

Even today you believe that it should be okay for business owners to discriminate against customers based on race or religious beliefs.  You still believe that women are so weak they need a man to protect them.

You are about a hundred years behind on what are considered "core" values.  That is why the Presidential Candidate with all the rebel flags at his campaign stops lost the popular vote by millions.

Man, if Oprah ran, I'd feel bad for anyone running against her.

Not that I'm in favor of her running, but being black, a woman, and a generally well-liked celebrity, I can't see ANYONE toppling her unless America learned its lesson from the Trump-Clinton campaign and decided ALL voters need to vote based on policy and not on extraneous things like race, popularity, "feelings" or any of the reasons that saw Trump get elected.

They all hosted reality TV shows?

The GOP destroyed any claim that we needed an experienced President after excusing the shit show of an administration that we're experiencing.

Yellen, Obama, and Harris all come in with more experience in government than Trump. Oprah is a better business person than Trump.
