GOP blocks effort to make Pres campaigns report any foreign offers of election help

With the support of Susan Collins, Warner added the language with a 8-7 vote to the Intelligence Authorization Act. The language is from his failed FIRE Act and would require presidential campaigns to report any attempts by foreign governments to offer election help.

However, the Senate added the IAA to their National Defense Authorization Act and the GOP cut out the provision.

Warner noted that the Senate has not passed any stand alone election legislation aimed at safeguarding out elections since 2016. He plans on calling for an up-down voice vote on the amendment on the floor to force Republicans to go on record with their support for or against the provision.

Just got an email from Putin.

He suggests maybe the US doesn't need more unnecessary regulations and laws.

The Russian government is willing to send over cyber-security specialists to help each state install special super security software to prevent hacking, and to allow voters to vote from their cell phones, thus insuring social distance.
