Scary stuff.   Hopefully these kids wise up as they grow up.

Is the People's Republic of China capitalist or communist?

Little of both?
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

I feel that way about the later half of my own generation.

That's my take.  Surveys such as this one can be interesting fodder for discussion, but SOOOOOOO easy to manipulate the results to achieve a desired outcome.  Expert pollers are EXTREMELY particular about how even the wording, much less the question and how it is asked, can potentially bias answers.

Half? After four years of Trump and the GOP, it will be 100%.

Let me do it before someone who's serious posts it...

You mean 8 years of Trump.

What kind of Socialism and Communism are they willing to live under?

Marx Communism
Lenin/Stalin Communism
Mao Communism
The Capitalist/Communism in China now
Pol Pot Communism
European Socialism
National Socialism
Cuban Communist/Socialism
Venezuela Socialism

There are just so many variables but if I had to choose from only Socialism and Communism, I would go with European since in that system you are free to choose...the others, not so much.

EDIT: By the way, Pol Pot Communism was extreme, so extreme that other Communists cringed and fought against it.

National socialism isn't socialism.

But I would vote for European "socialism," which is also not socialism, having already lived under it for 10 years.

Weird.  That describes my generation.  I was a preteen when St. Ronnie got elected and greed became the official policy of the GOP.  Jobs dried up.  Wages shrunk. Etc.

So we worked hard and got educations and now in our 40's we're told that we should be like....the GOP?

Give me a break.

With the next generation not experiencing adulthood, yet, there is a difficulty in understanding how they will really be with regards to anything. The political events right now are going to shape the political attitudes of the first group of them more than anything, and that's a scary thought.

Not that it's the case in Europe, but it can be argued that "modern" socialism doesn't control the economy through publicly owned assets, but rather accomplishes that through taxes and regulation (which through dictating "margins" and how you operate is effectively the same as owning the business).  And I'm not making a case against regulation, but merely saying there are degrees of regulation that range from safety to fairness all the way to virtually outright control.

Mainly that is the case for healthcare, though there's a strong push for the same in the energy sector....and those two combined are like 25% of the economy (which is pretty significant).

If the majority are like my kids and their friends we'll be ok.  They care more about people than money.  I just hope the outnumber the dbags.

Well said. That is how it has been argued in the US since FDR.  I would rather not call that "socialism" though, since I don't think dictating margins is really effectively controlling a business still privately owned and reaping, for the most part, immense private profit.

And I agree with your point about the "range" of regulation. At some point along the spectrum, liberal democracy does flip to social democracy.

Your kids and their friends sound awesome. Let's just hope a couple of those dbags are in charge of the finances.

Thanks, but I hope not.  These kids are able to take care of themselves...and still care about people over money.

I know it's amazing to some to even consider that anything but a dbag could handle their own finances but that's what good parenting can get you.

Yep.  Parenting is a big part.  Whether it's a "traditional" household or single parent or two mommies or two daddies.

Not the only part.  But we've tried hard to instill good values in our children.  Those include caring about others before they care about how much stuff they own and how rich they are.

Money is a necessary evil in life...but it doesn't have to make you evil too.

And hopefully you've instilled the value in them to call folks that are not like-minded dbags.

Actually we did instill the value of calling people dbags if they are one and need to be told.

Sometimes it's necessary to stand up to a dbag.  Sometimes you walk away and let them make fools of themselves.

Also taught them that if someone thinks they are dbags because of their beliefs it's ok to tell them why they are not and have a discussion rather than get pissy and act like a victim.  Oh, and that just because someone says a certain group contains dbags not everyone in that group is one.  Judge the individual by their actions not the group they are in.
