Hemorrhoids- Should I Be Worried?
#21
Damn, what a thread. Entertaining because guys don't usually ask stuff like this, but a serious issue for many men that are too proud or embarrassed to seek help. I applaud your courage Brad to reach out for an answer, which also tells me that your experiencing some pretty bad discomfort to do so. I was in a hospital in Alexandria, IN and seen a poster about hemorrhoids removal on the wall and that you could be back to work the next day?

Now, I'm sure that is for the minor ones, but maybe something you should talk about to your Dr? I think it's a laser thing but not sure. Either way, I wish you luck. As someone who spends as much time sitting as you, it can't make for a good day.

Me<--chronic constipation for many years..Opiates will do that to anyone by the way if you ever have to use them to kill pain. Drink prune juice and lots of it with every meal. Avoid cheese and milk products and too much bread.. I love cheese, but it hates me so i don't eat it. I also eat LOTS of fresh fruit.. I have hemorrhoids, but not the painful kind. I guess years of chronic hard turds my ass is pretty tough..or something.. Sad

I'm sorry to say that the most effective thing I have found for it won't be of help for you: squatting when you do #2 instead of sitting. When you squat, it eases the muscles around the sphincter and that helps the blood flow in the area, or so I'm told. Anyway, it has worked for me. Sorry, friend. I realize that probably isn't much help for you. But maybe it will help someone else reading this.

I keep forgetting or I don't know that I'll have to go #2 until I'm already sitting down and just too not quick enough to squat.

Do you think putting one butt cheek on one edge of the toilet bowl and the other cheek on the other side would have the same result?

I dunno. Maybe try what Fred said about having something like a stool or hamper to put left your feet up if possible. If you knees are up closer to your chest, it's sort of the same thing as squatting down.

I didn't see that because I typically don't read his posts, especially in threads like these, but thanks!  I'll give it a try!

Just did it for the first time.

It was weird but I waited until I was about to explode so it all came out pretty easily.

How long does it typically take to see improvement?

Maybe a couple of days.

Really?!  THAT EASY?!

I've been dealing with this for years and thought I might have them forever!

It blows me away that it might be fixed this easily!

I don't know that they ever go away. At least not without an operation to cut them down. But that should make them shrink, perhaps to a degree you don't even notice them anymore.

Isn't there an old saying or family remedy about putting a penny on a hemorrhoid or something and then burying the penny in the ground and the hemorrhoid just falls off? Or something like that.

I think it's: stick a roll of pennies up your bum, then sing a nursery rhyme. Once the song is over, remove the roll and go spend it. When you've used all the pennies up, the roid will fall off.

Just tried it again and I'm only posting this so it's at the top of the threads and I can remember to do it again.

I had to wait until I really, really, REALLY, had to go and everything came out pretty easy, which is good because it was tougher to do than I remembered.

Hopefully this works (and as quick a you said would be GREAT) and I get at least a little bit of relief!

THANKS!!!!

I can confirm the Witch Hazel wipes.  My wife is a RN at the VA and she know all about Old man stuff like Hemorrhoids.  And as the recipient of her knowledge, I can confirm they work very well.  Just keep using them until their gone.

These are what she buys me, and their flushable.  Dude wipes.  haha

If you're over 50, you're susceptible regardless of diet or lifestyle.  Just a function of life.  There's nothing be be ashamed of.
