Good for him. Glad he fully recovered from surgery. Worked his way on the roster, and motivation for udfa.

Great news.

Love Hewitt and the intensity he brings. Hopefully he'll be used more this season to help Hill get his groove back.

I love goldilocks!

Lets move him back to FB and churn out those tough yards with Hill again.

Good extension. Hewitt performs his role perfectly and he's also a plus in the locker room.

Wouldn't have hated if they waited until after this season for them to do that. I don't think he was nearly as good of a blocker in '15 as he was in '14. Would like to see another year to see which one is the real him.

EDIT: With Kroft going down, I like the extension much more. He might be used more as a TE now.

With Kroft going down, this is now an official guarantee.

Well, the Hewitt contract extension is a ray of sunlight, on an otherwise gloomy day..

Does anyone know where to find Hill's stats running behind Hewitt vs. in single back?  I remember seeing that somewhere and thinking, "wow this Hewitt guy must be really good."

ESPN has some stats in their Splits section.

Jeremy Hill in...

2014:
Shotgun = 6.6 YPC
I Formation = 5.3 YPC
Lone Back = 5.5 YPC

2015:
Shotgun = 3.8 YPC
I Formation = 3.0 YPC
Lone Back = 3.3 YPC

....which is why I always thought it silly when people kept trying to excuse Hill's bad season last year by trying to explain it as him not doing well out of the shotgun and needing to run behind a lead blocker.

***Fair counter point to my point: The I Formation DOES include running behind a FB at the goal line, so if they're on the one yard line, the most he can get is one yard.***

That said, his problem in 2015 wasn't because of the shotgun.
