I just described ISIS to a tee while describing liberals actions lately. Shit is getting scary that this is becoming more and more accepted in this society. " is just that...hyperbole.

One D list celebrity does not represent the entire party.  And beyond that only the most fringe members would say anything good about such a display.  Heck most of the "lefites" (or ISIS members) not only said this was awful but refused to share the image or story for just that reason.

Or are that GOP the party of Scott Baio?

To bolded, that is true.  However, these increasingly outrageous displays are continuing.  Are you going to make an exception for every idiot that does something rash, in the name of denouncing Trump?

So much for the Party that once championed the quote "Ask not what your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country".

Will there be a sliding scale?

I do have a life beyond these boards and politics so I may not be able to personally denounce each and every act that is deemed outrageous.

For example there is a show on Comedy Central called (I think) The Presidential show with some guy impersonating the POTUS (poorly).  I have never watched it, only seen ads for it, so I don't know if they cross the line.

Is portraying Bannon as Death on SNL outrageous?

What the OP posted was awful and crossed every line and should be denounced by all sane people.

Just like past attempts at humor or political statements that crossed line (such as a faux lynching) should be denounced by sane people.

Edit: Let me add that people like Griffin must not realize that incredibly dumb and horribly poor taste stunts like that simply feed the other side's belief that "everyone" on the other side is crazy.

As you apparently already have one, yes.

That's cool, we'll settle for the ones brought up on this board.

Then why bring it up?  No one else did.

Hmm, is satirizing someone the same as holding up a mock up of their bloody head?  Lemme give this some thought.

The same thing as stating you thought about blowing up the White House?

Quote:Just like past attempts at humor or political statements that crossed line (such as a faux lynching) should be denounced by sane people.

C'mon kid, give us an example or two going the other way.

In all seriousness, I think a lot of people in this country feel disenfranchised. I'm not just talking about sour grapes over the Electoral College situation, but how many people feel like their elected officials represent them? Left or right, there are a lot of people that feel like they are being left out of the conversation and that number continues to grow.

Now, here is something that may surprise people on here, given that I am essentially a communist to some on the boards, the violent left doesn't surprise me for these very reasons. I have talked on here before about the neo-liberal movement and how that has moved the Democrats to the right. That has put folks on the left in the position of having no viable representation. It's why they latched onto Bernie so much. Social democratic policies are gone in our government when they used to be the standard for the Democrats thanks to FDR. Now, I;m not a democratic socialist like Bernie claims to be (there are differences), but even I feel like there is a lack of politicians representing my views which were, at one time, what the Democratic party was all about. So when you go even further out on the left it isn't surprising that anyone feels disenfranchised.

I can't explain much at all about the far-right, I don't know what is going on there when they get violent.

Ted Nugent constantly called for Obama's death and was invited to the White House by Trump.

There are trashy people on both sides that do awful things, mostly for attention. Just don't embarrass yourself by falling into the trap where you try to pretend like only one side does.

The more extreme ones seem to have a sense that you have to threaten to show your strength.

They didn't like Obama because he talked to much and didn't do anything.  He went on an "apology tour" versus taking on the "European elites" like Trump did.

Personally I don't get it, but I never did get the guys that had to prove they had the biggest swinging appendage in the room.

And frankly listening to some right wing sources over the last week I think they feel that ANYONE who disagrees with them or doesn't want to fight them is an "elite."

Again, those seem to the more extreme...but they are the loudest.

I don't condone this picture. It was in bad taste, it wasn't funny in any way, and it contributes to the extremist mentalities running rampant in the country.

It is a two-way street, however.

And we could go on and on with a tit-for-tat exchange on what is "outrageous" or what is in bad taste or did what to who.

Odd, all I have been seeing on the news since the election are groups of extremists on the Left, rioting and being violent toward anyone that opposes them.
