Jim Acosta

What is wrong with this clown? He is the worst type of grandstander since David Gregory. Every time this guy gets a question at three legit questions could be asked by serious journalists trying to honestly cover the White House.

A CNN reporter known as one of Donald Trump's most vocal opponents on cable news tangled with the president on Monday, claiming he has 'spread a lot of fake news' from the Oval Office.

As Trump concluded brief remarks about China's trade policies, Jim Acosta asked him to explain why it took him two days to name and shame the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis and other white supremacists following a deadly riot on Saturday.

'Can you explain why you did not condemn those hate groups by name over the weekend?' he asked.

'They've been condemned. They have been condemned,' a stoic Trump responded.

'And why are we not having a press conference today?' Acosta demanded. 'You said on Friday that we'd have a press conference.'

'We had a press conference. We just had a conference,' Trump told him, despite not taking questions earlier in the day when he addressed the white nationalist rally.

'Can we ask you some more questions, then, sir?' Acosta shot back.

'Doesn't bother me at all,' Trump grinned. 'But you know, I like real news, not fake news. You're fake news. Thank you everybody.'

'Haven't you spread a lot of fake news yourself, sir?' Acosta jabbed at the president as he left the room.

Acosta has become a CNN star by pestering the Trump administration on camera at every turn, particularly on occasions where CNN believes the president's team has been needlesly hostile to the press.

Trump said in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House that he didn't mind answering questions from reporters who don't work for 'fake news' outlets
Trump pointed directly at CNN's Acosta before walking out of the room
He complained bitterly for weeks this summer while the White House kept its press briefings off-camera.

But his fit of pique reached a high point less than two weeks ago when he sparred with domestic policy adviser Stephen Miller during a televised briefing about immigration.

Acosta insisted on August 2 that Trump administration changes to visa guidelines would run afoul of the spirit of a poem on display inside the Statue of Liberty's pedestal.

Acosta occupies a front-row seat in most White House press briefings and has become a reliably anti-Trump voice among U.S. political reporters
The White House, he claimed, was 'trying to engineer a racial and ethnic flow of people into this country' by enforcing a longstanding requirement that new immigrants become fluent in English before they can be naturalized.

Miller called that statement 'outrageous, insulting, ignorant and foolish.'

'This whole notion that they have to learn English before they get to the United States – are we just going to bring in people from the United Kingdom and Australia?' Acosta demanded to know.

Miller said Acosta had revealed a 'cosmopolitan bias' by saying 'only people from Great Britain and Australia would speak English,' calling it 'so insulting to millions of hard working immigrants who do speak English from all over the world.'

He is grandstanding, but he wasn't wrong in this instance, and I think it is a valid question.

Right or wrong it's constant grandstanding with this guy. Everything is a catastrophe with this guy.

Not having the briefings on video was the best move.

The reporters used to ask questions and report news. Now we have to deal with their insecure need to be heard and seen. Acosta is an attention ho.

The more outragous things they say and report the better. Who cares if what they say are true or what they are implying is complete make believe. They are feeding the voter base/viewers and it doesn't matter if its true or not. Their viewers want to believe what they are saying so they say it knowing it is BS.

Everybody tunes into their chosen reality. Servicing the viewer, not reporting the actual truth/news. They spin it into whatever they need it to be.

Where is the head of the FCC?  Like everything else it has become a position of politics and integrity no longer exist.

Truth has been turned into spin. Pick your reality.

Said after Trump said he wont take questions from fake news outlets.

To me and in that context it sounds like Acosta and CNN is admitting to airing fake news.

Now others may say Acosta is only accusing Trump of spreading fake news but context is everything and everyone says words matter.

They know it. This is why they should just come out and admit to being openly partisan news. Then at least we could have half right wing and half left media outlets covering the White House.

Trump just reacts to Acosta's unprofessionalism.

Was Trump reacting to an Acosta's question when he gave his fire and fury response? What about the worse than fire and fury response? Was that Acosta's doing, too?

Reporters yelling questions after the "press conference" is over isn't unusual or unheard of.

A President saying he refused to take questions from a station because he thinks they are "fake news" is.

Especially when he has shared fake stories himself...repeatedly...from another station that he considers NOT fake news.

Trump was the author of the fake news stories about Obama wire tapping him and his unmasking insinuations. Any news outlet that covered those fake news stories published fake news.
