Hunter Biden Whistleblower
#1
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/irs-agent-wants-whistleblower-protections-discuss-hunter-biden-probe-rcna80564

It appears there is not a right wing conspiracy with the Biden family being dirty. Just the opposite, there is a conspiracy by the DOJ and IRS to give Hunter Biden special treatment. No, the Biden laptop story was not Russian propaganda as the FBI told social media outlets Twitter and Facebook.

It is time the DOJ, FBI and IRS do their job fairly, no one is above the law. If Joe Biden is involved in any way, he too should be wearing an orange jumpsuit.

This is being reported by all the major news outlets, I placed a link for the NBC news story.

I am definitely interested in seeing what comes of this. I have long stated that no one should be above the law and unlike many I truly mean that.

I will say, though, that there seem to be a lot of conclusions being jumped to in your post that are not supported by the known facts. Unfortunately, that is the world we live in.

HOT TAKE - democrats saw how much popularity and support Trump got for being indicted so they're making up charges against Biden so he can get support from democrats going into 2024.

HOT TAKE 2 - the 2024 election could be between two ancient dudes who are in prison.

If there are proofs, all in.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Jim Jordan promised dozens of whistleblowing FBI agents and then we get crickets or find out they are on MAGA payrolls

Joe Biden promised to make student loan debt go away.  Which was the bigger tall tale so far?

Well, to be fair...he did pass the bill and all of the infrastructure was put in place for it. It even made student loan applications more "friendly" for future students. The Republicans fought it, sued, and it will likely get overturned. The only reason that specific item may end up being a "tall tale" is because the opposing party made it so.

Regarding the OP, if there are crimes being committed by the Biden family, then arrest them.

The biggest whopper there was seeing right wing pundits and politicians who had taxpayers pay off millions of dollars of their own debt clutch their pearls over the idea that anyone should ever pay anyone else's bills in this great nation.

Agreed.  People are acting like democrats are terrified at the idea of being forced to replace Biden with a candidate who is under the age of 80 and might have an approval rating above 40.

The truth is that the POTUS doesn't have the authority to unilaterally 'erase' debt.

He promised something that he likely knew he was incapable of delivering.

I feel like Biden did his part, maybe he didn't.  Maybe him saying he'd forgive student loan debt was the political equivalent of your dad saying you could do XYZ, but you'll have to go ask your mother first.  We all know mom is gonna say no, dad.

There is a difference, that was voted on and passed by Congress.  Joe attempted to do his measure by Royal decree, err, I mean executive order.

Ah yes, congress the people who amazingly decided that taxpayers paying their own debt was totally not socialism.  That's some on the level stuff, there.  But I digress, this thread isn't about politicians being self-serving liars, it's about something slightly different.

Actually, it kinda is.  One of the cornerstone moments of Joe Biden's campaign was when he made an absolutely unequivocable statement that he had no knowledge of his son Hunter's business dealings.

Well, it's a bit more nuanced than that, as always. He was attempting to use emergency powers to do so as the national emergency status for COVID-19 was still in effect. It was unclear at best, though. I would still argue that using this as an example of "tall tales" falls a bit flat in my eyes. He did what he could do, and had support from his party in varying measures. He was just blocked and sued by the opposing party.

If Hunter did something illegal I hope he is punished as prescribed by law and I vow to never vote for him.

Same with the child of any politician.

Cool. Arrest him and throw him in jail.

Who'd of thought a politician would wield their authority to protect their child or interests? I mean that never happens.

That's kinda how politics goes these days..

And as far as the nuance of attempting to push something over, under the guise of something else?  That's nothing new, either.  Ask yourself why every emergency relief bill takes hundreds and in some cases thousands of pages to write, and includes pet projects and earmarks destined for every affirmitive votes district?  We, the general public always seem to be aghast at the $$$ it takes to get relief to people wiped out by natural disaster, but it's really all the purchasing of votes to push it through that is so damn expensive.

Well the SC wouldn't put a stay on this part at least. So I guess its legal.

Quote:The Supreme Court has denied a request to delay student loan debt relief under a landmark settlement agreement that will provide billions of dollars in student loan forgiveness. The ruling hands borrowers a victory, and gives the Biden administration a green light to continue implementing relief under the agreement. But legal battles over student loan cancellation continue.

Here’s what the ruling means for borrowers, and what to expect in the coming months.

Supreme Court Allows Billions in Student Loan Forgiveness To Continue Under Settlement
The Supreme Court’s ruling last week was about a sweeping settlement agreement designed to resolve Sweet v. Cardona, a multi-year class action lawsuit first brought against the Education Department during the Trump administration over stalled or denied Borrower Defense to Repayment applications. The Borrower Defense program can wipe out federal student debt if a borrower’s school engaged in harmful misrepresentations or made false promises about important aspects of their educational program.

Under the agreement, the Biden administration will automatically provide $6 billion in student loan forgiveness for nearly 300,000 borrowers who attended certain covered institutions and submitted a Borrower Defense application by last summer. Many more borrowers may also ultimately receive student loan cancellation, as well, through an expedited review process of Borrower Defense applications.

But three schools referenced in the settlement agreement challenged the outcome, arguing that the terms were unfair and that their inclusion as covered institutions would harm their reputations. The schools asked for a stay (a delay) in implementation of the settlement relief while they appealed. The trial court denied the request, and the schools appealed all the way to the Supreme Court.

But this is politics versus alleged law breaking.

We all recognize that "the other side" will fight what they don't like.  Only some of us also want people who break the law punished appropriately versus saying its a political witch hunt.
