I agree he hasn't looked like it in awhile.I mean he's good at times but I do notice as well he's nowhere to be found some games. And all that hype Gunther was saying about him he's better then ever this preseason lol.

He is, but being in the interior he can be game planned against easier than other players. He's a much better pass rusher than run stopper, but that is generally Peko/Sims job as Atkins often beats his man and leaves gaps that can be exploited

He got penetration but the Cowboys line used it against him. On the 60-yard run he got penetration and Frederick escorted him into the backfield knowing he wasn't going to make the tackle.

Yes he is elite the problem is the guys next two are not especially in nickle situations. Marcus Hunt is once again ruining this team. The fact is this team misses Gilberry.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Under this coaching staff, no. We have been figured out on both sides of the ball and the coaches are too incompetent to fix it. Paulie has ran out of Zimmer's ideas.

Yep.

And the Vikings are playing incredible this season.

They've even had shortcomings and they overcame them.

God what a mistake it was not promoting Zim and keeping him here. It makes it hard to keep rooting for this disaster of an organization.

The players aren't inspired. They had ONE guy to stop today. One.

The D looked unorganized, slow and confused.

Pathetic.

Yes, he is.

There's 31 other teams that would love to have him.

Watch the game. Atkins constantly got in the backfield and pushed his guys back. However, the Cowboys ran plays away from him and allowed plays to develop outside of his area. You see numerous misdirection plays and double teams.

Atkins is a top 3 DT. The Cowboys did a great job exposing the rest of this defensive line. Along with the linebackers, who, for some reason, have not been given any flake for their inability to not only get off blocks, but to misread plays and even get faked out. Along with some poor tackling.

You could at least learn the player's names.....

They pulled him in favor of Pat sims to try and stop the bleeding of us getting gashed in the run. I'd be interested to see his total number of plays for the game.

Yeah, this has been happening a lot this season.  We need to make some adjustments on the D-Line either to change his technique (don't think we should do this) or better take advantage of his penetration.

And I'd seriously doubt 31 other teams would love to have Paulie G calling plays  Mellow

The Vikings have had much more than "shortcomings".  They lost their starting quarterback and all world running back to start the season.  Yet they are still 5-0.

As to the original question, yes Geno is elite.

So if they were allowing agent to penetrate on run plays as long as it was away from where the run was designed to go why didn't we attack from other spots? Oh I know because Dallas's offensive coordinator isn't a total dumbass and used the play action pass to perfection. Aka he made adjustments mid game. You'd think those were illegal if you've been a Bengals fan the past 15 years

We'd all like to think our star players are "elite" but they won't be until they show up in big games. Nationally anyway. It's just how it is.

If you're top 5 at your position you're elite in my book. Can you name 5 DT's in the NFL that are better than Geno?

People are being way more respectful to you than when I mentioned the same thing nearly verbatim last year. Only difference is the team this year sucks.
