It seems a lot of people value great playcallers as good HC Candidates
#1
It seems a lot on this board want guys based on how their coordinator skills were. A lot of top coordinators have great QB's and great personnel. Then when you don't have a P Manning, you fail in Miami if you are a Gase. I could go on and on about this.

In general, a head coach WON'T be calling the plays. (People blamed Marvin for play calls a lot...but that's the coordinators.)

A head coach must be a great communicator.
They must install a culture of accountability.
They must be a teacher.
They must be a leader.
They must be organized.
They are going to need to be analytical.
They must also be innovative.

We need someone who can come in and set structure for practices. Determine what systems to use. They also must preach accountability.

They will need to be able to scout and be on for draft day.

So...those skills might not be in the best OC or DC. It could be a guy in a lesser role like Taylor. It's why a guy like Bill Cowher who was a special teams coach was a great HC. Would he get a shot in todays NFL? Maybe not.
