Jemele Hill & ESPN
#1
Jemele Hill on ESPN recently ranted on twitter calling Trump a 'white supremacist' posted below with link. Back in June in defending Kaepernick, she also basically agreed with Kaep that Cops are modern day 'slave patrols'.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4878668/ESPN-host-fire-calling-Trump-white-supremacist.html

"Hill transferred the conversation over to the President, writing in fiery tweets: 'Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists,' Hill said.

'The height of white privilege is being able to ignore his white supremacy, because it's of no threat to you. Well, it's a threat to me.

'Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime. His rise is a direct result of white supremacy. Period,' she added, alongside a message calling him a 'bigot' after.

'He is unqualified and unfit to be president. He is not a leader. And if he were not white, he never would have been elected.'

Then at the end of the article this was brought up:
"She also implied that complaints over the alleged liberal bent were really racist sentiment in disguise.

'As you see more ethnic diversity, then all of a sudden ESPN is too liberal,' she said. 'So I wonder, when people say that, what they're really saying.'

She can go suck a big fat puke flavored sucker for saying that. I used to watch ESPN going way back to the 1990s a ton. Stuart Scott was one of my favorites ever to host Sportcenter, right there with Dan Patrick & Keith Olbermann before he went all MSNBC crazy. NFL countdown and Primetime back in the day with Tom Jackson and Berman was by far my favorite highlight show of the day's games. If I say ESPN is going liberal, it is because they are. Not because I am racist or because I dont like seeing more people of color on their shows. **** her for saying that.

Anyways after her recent twitter tirade on the Prez, she didnt get suspended or anything. Just had a talk about it with the upper suits. But that is because of two reasons, she is black and ESPN is a liberal outpost for their satan owner aka Disney (please keep making good Star Wars movies tho).

Sorry rant over, just tired of seeing the double standards going on out there. Cause if a conservative posted something on Facebook that disagreed with the TG bathroom laws, he would have been fired for it by ESPN. Oh thats right, that did happen. Call the POTUS a white supremacist and cops 'slave patrols', meh no biggie.

I have less of an issue with a sports reporter criticiZing the president than a news reporters. Likewise, if some tv news anchor went on a rant about how evil roger goodell is, I wouldn't care as much. Just being in the media doesn't preclude them from having opinions. As long as those opinions aren't getting in the way of their objectivity.

Now, if trump bats .500 and she calls him a racist, then I'd see more of a problem.

This isnt really about what she said, but how a mega media outlet has double standards like they apparently do. Schilling's opinion's on transgenders on Facebook didn't interfere with his objectivity in calling baseball games on tv. But he got fired for it. Linda Cohn, a long time ESPN personality for decades now, supposedly got briefly suspended few months ago because she basically said ESPN has gotten too political.

All in all, I am finally seeing what many others are, and that is that I am about done with ESPN unless I have no other choice in watching a game they have on.

Hank Williams Jr. (admittedly a total asshat) got fired for saying Obama was as bad as Hitler.  There is absolutely a double standard at work, only a fool would try and claim otherwise.  I've been saying for well over a year that people have gotten way too comfortable hurling heavy accusations at each other, usually with no more provocation than the fact they disagree with them on a political issue.

We are in a world of shit.

The fact that you don't care about the race of ESPN hosts doesn't mean that there aren't people who do. It just means you aren't a shitty person.

I agree that just randomly calling people Hitler because you disagree with them is stupid.

The point being you have to get fired before you can get hired back, years later I might add.

Six years for comparing the sitting POTUS to Hitler isn't too bad for an old country music star...lol.

He seemed to still be able to make a living after he was fired.   Smirk

I wanted to add that Trump really brings out the worst in people.

Probably because he comes off as a smug guy who can't admit he is ever wrong, makes wild (false) claims and denies any culpability for anything he has ever said or done.

Also, Hill has a right to say what she wants...it's up to ESPN to discipline her as they see fit.

Schilling, for example, got warned and suspended but kept on keeping on so he got canned a year later.

She should probably take this as a warning and easy off the throttle.

Yes, adults aren't responsible for their own behavior, it's Trump's fault.  This kind of statement would be comical if it weren't so widely shared.

It would also be weird if that is what I said. People need to be held personally responsible for their own actions. Including the POTUS and some reporter on ESPN I never heard of until this story.

So, fired for comparing the POTUS to Hitler, but calling the POTUS a white supremacist equals stern talking to.  Seems about right.

It's exactly what you said.  You do this a lot and it's transparent as hell.  You are not blaming people for their own actions when your first sentence is, "Trump brings out the worst in people".  Right off the bat you are excusing the behavior of adults because Trump makes them do or say bad things.  You think you left yourself enough plausible deniability to weasel out of it but, sorry, no.  You are the exact kind of person that inspired the "Thanks Obama" meme.

Some people get set off by certain other people.  Not sure why, but it happens.  Frequently.

That does not excuse what is said or done.  It is a reality that some people get so upset and things (real and perceived) that they cannot help themselves when they respond.

Again: Each person should be held accountable for their own actions/words.

I should have made that clearer.

Wait...I did.

Correct, and the discrepancy in their response is the basis of the thread.

Quote:Some people get set off by certain other people.

Again, your grasp of the English language appears to be tenuous.  You don't start a point off with an exculpatory statement and then claim you're not excusing people's behavior.

To be fair I clarified my stance due to the brevity of my original answer long before the first two attempts to make it look like I was letting people off the hook because they were set off by a particular person and an attempted lesson in the English language.

So rather than say it a third time I'll simply say, again, that I made it perfectly clear the follow up to my original post.
I'll also repeat this:

Thanks and have a great day.

We are in a world of shit.

I dunno.

Using a public platform to say the POTUS is as bad as a guy who killed millions of people, is as bad as using a public platform to call the POTUS a racist?

I get that Jr wasn't trying to say Obama killed 6 million Jews. Or that he'd taken over huge chunks of Europe. Or that he had a mustache. But it's the kind of ignorant hyperbole that squelches legitimate points. You can have a conversation with someone who says 'the POTUS is a racist, here's the point.' You can't do much with someone who just says 'the POTUS is comparable to the biggest sack of crap in history because he made everyone buy health insurance."

White supremecist may not add up to Hitler, but it's a very serious accusation.

Except she said if you think ESPN is leaning left then it's probably because you are a racist.
