Has Biden Secured the Border?
#1
How has Joe Biden done securing the souther US border since he took office?
https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/article_81293caa-1050-11ee-8619-734bf91c6025.html

llegal border crossers since 2021 total more than individual populations of 38 states

Since President Biden has been in office, illegal crossings total more than 8 million
By Bethany Blankley | The Center Square contributor Jun 22, 2023

Over 300,000 on average in July, August, September, October, November and December so add 1,8 million more to the 8 million.

Do you agree with the open border policies of Joe Biden? Do you feel safer or less safe knowing many of those who bypassed security check points are 100% unvetted?

Very poor job, miserable job. But remember, the more illegals Dems let in, the better for Biden next year. We all know that illegals skew elections toward Dems. In New York early 70,000 migrants crammed into hundreds of emergency shelters. People sleeping on floors, or huddled on sidewalks in the December cold. Families packed into giant tents at the edge of the city, miles from schools or services. And New York City is spending hundreds of millions of dollars a month to care for them all. I hope it bankrupts every blue city out there, flood Manhattan and Long Island with illegals. Texas and Arizona have had enough already.

The US and West Europe have become the Babylons/Romes of our age, and our politicians don't give a damn as long as their money and power remain intact.

Pretty sure VP Harris, Border Czar, took care of that whole border issue.

why is it better for Democrats to have more undocumented people next year?  And if you are going to throw out the "illegal immigrants voting" conspiracy theory, you better provide proof of it happening because there is ZERO evidence that large numbers vote

Or any evidence of any, really. Undocumented immigrants typically avoid things that would draw attention to them since, you know, it could result in deportation.

Of course, I expect nothing less of people that just outright lie about what's going on, like what we see in the poll options. But whatever.

I spend 8+ hours a day processing cases for customs and border patrol agents and then I spend my free time reading stuff like this. I'm a fool.

Again, a personal attack by you. Why?

How did I lie in the poll? Just look at the numbers of illegal immigrants coming into the country under Obama or Trump, then look at Biden numbers.

Are you saying the Biden policies deterred illegal immigrants coming into the US????????

Quote:Republican Brags About Sabotaging Border Security Deal

Republican Senator Ron Johnson is leading efforts to block a deal on border security, the Wisconsin congressman recently said, adding that voters should be the ones deciding on the issue.

Talking on Fox News's The Ingraham Angle on Thursday about a border security deal reportedly in the works between Senate Democrats and Republicans, Johnson, who's part of the Homeland Security Committee, said he's been "pretty well leading the efforts to slow this process down."

A bipartisan border security and immigration deal, which would unlock the stalled aid package for Ukraine blocked by House Republicans, has reportedly been the object of talks between the White House and key senators. In a joint statement issued by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell before the Senate went into recess for the holidays, the two said that negotiations "continue to make headway."

But Johnson has been undermining the importance of such a bipartisan deal, saying that it's impossible to engage in honest talks with Democrats about the topic.

"I've got 14 of my colleagues to sign a letter to Republican leadership to hold a conference meeting when we return on January 8," the Wisconsin senator told host Laura Ingraham. "That was really designed to make sure that they won't jam us this week to take a vote on a bill that nobody has seen," he added. "I think we were largely successful."

The letter, released on December 17, called for a meeting of the GOP conference to discuss the negotiations with President Joe Biden and Senate Democrats over border security instead of "conducting rushed and secret backroom negotiations."

"The problem we have is that we're negotiating with an administration and Democrats in the Senate who want an open border," he concluded. Johnson took credit for the Senate going into recess without voting on any border security measures.

He then claimed that the border was "largely secured" before Biden came into office, blaming the Democratic president for what he called the current crisis. "President Biden said that these policies were inhumane and opened up the border," the Republican senator said, adding that migration was "completely out of control."

Newsweek contacted Johnson's press team for comment by email on Friday.

According to data shared by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the number of migrant encounters reported on the U.S.-Mexico border reached a record high this year, putting more pressure on Biden.

In October, the Migration Policy Institute reported there had been 2.5 million encounters of migrants at the border since the beginning of the year. The number of monthly encounters reported by the CBP dipped in June, following the end of Title 42 and the launch of a new set of enforcement policies, and then bounced back, rising consistently in the following months.

The Migration Policy Institute said migration patterns have changed in a way that requires an infusion of new resources into the system, as the U.S. faces a sharp increase in the arrivals of families and migrants who are not likely to be easily removed from the country.

Biden, who faces heightened pressure—especially from Republicans—to tackle the situation, introduced new legislation deterring illegal arrivals in May, including deporting people deemed unable to stay and banning their re-entry for five years. The Migration Policy Institute believes the deterrence is wearing off because border authorities do not have enough resources to impose consequences on illegal migrants.

The bipartisan border security deal has been said to focus on tougher asylum claims, allowing border authorities to more easily removed migrants who are found not to be allowed to stay; a bigger investment to improve border security than the $14 billion initially proposed by Biden; and a reform of the U.S. migration policies that would deter people from crossing illegally and instead encourage them to apply legally.

To the poster above, yes Republicans feel Biden want border funding not stop illegal immigrants from entering the country, but to process more illegal immigrants.

It is simple, Republicans want the record flow of illegal immigrants under Biden to stop, not allow more in the country.

So yes, the GOP is not approving a budget, nor funding for Ukraine or Israel unless Biden goes back to Trump border policies.

I 100% agree, our border is open, open borders are not a recipe for success for US citizens in any way. It is also a kick in. the teeth to those who became US ctizens the RIGHT WAY.

Republicans for all their talking don’t want to fix the border and the immigration system. They would much rather have the political football to kick around.

You all want the so-called Trump policies. Well maybe, if he managed to actually work with Congress to pass laws instead of tax cuts those policies would have been permanent.

He had to steal money from the military to build the infamous still unfinished wall. You know the one he promised Mexico to pay from. Cutting taxes for the rich, which added trillions to the deficits, was his priority.

The “stay in Mexico” policy was only legal under the COVID emergency which ironically Republicans pushed to end. When it ended so did the policy.

Republicans rejected money for more border patrol agents, more video and aerial surveillance, immigration judges, and better infrastructure to support the border patrol and house asylum seekers. You want to change how asylum is granted? Change the asylum laws.

Running the government by executive order is untenable. It took the stroke of a pen to order it. It takes the next guy even less time to rescind it. To actually affect change in this country, Congress must pass laws. Passing laws, especially with split Chambers with small majorities, requires compromise. And if any Senator refuses to work in good faith to pass good legislation they should look for another job. As one of Trump’s favorite rally song says “You Don’t Always Get What You Want”
