Joey Porter

You would've thought it was going to change when Tomlin was out on the field and "accidentally" tripped Jacoby Jones.

Joey Porter was more concerned with cussing out the Bengals players and backing into them while looking smug to be worried about Brown.

LB Coach doesn't belong in the middle of the field while the team's offense is on.

Oh I agree that he was only there to talk smack, but he was still allowed to be there by rule.  Say it were Green, Paul G could legally walk out there to check on him if he wanted too.

Every single NFL Network person I have seen talk on TV or Tweet has been asking the question "What was Joey Porter even doing out there?"

Multiple Hall of Famers have all said it. Not to mention the Refs had already penalized a Steelers coach for attacking a Bengals player. So why weren't they on top of that shit?

peko informs gilberry he's subbing for him, penalty.

Joey Porter(positional coach) is damn near on our sideline talking trash to our players, no problem.

How do you make that call?

This is not the case at all, as Joey Porter is NOT the head coach.

Via Rapoport "Assistants are not allowed on the field during injury timeouts. Medical staff, trainers, attendants and the head coach can come out to check on the welfare of the player...."  ..."The referees gave Porter the benefit of the doubt because there was real concern for Brown."

In other words, the referees made an official decision to NOT call the game by the rules, but rather to allow Joey Porter to break the rules and justify it by their personal feelings.  If the officials had followed the rules of the game, and flagged Porter for being on the field illegally, then there would never have been an issue and the FG instead of 33 yards, becomes a 63 yard attempt.

ARTICLE 8. NON-PLAYER PERSONNEL

Non-player personnel of a club (e.g., management personnel, coaches, trainers, equipment men) are prohibited from making unnecessary physical contact with or directing abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures at opponents, game officials, or representatives of the League.

Penalty: Loss of 15 yards. (Unsportsmanlike Conduct.) Enforcement is from:

  1. the succeeding spot if the ball is dead;
  2. the previous spot if the ball was in play; or
  3. whatever spot the Referee, after consulting with the crew, deems equitable.(Palpably Unfair Act.)

Well it is tough to be a ref.. but in the situation they should have just hit both Porter and Jones .. The only problem I had was they were not consistent through the night for both teams.. be consistent

Joey Porter's actions were classic steeler...outside the rules and allowed to go unchecked.  His actions created the foul, and if he doesn't come on the field, it never happens.  15 yard penalty, and game over.

This is the same clown that took a cheap shot at Levi Jones when 4 of his buddies were tying him up on the ground outside a Vegas casino.  He also took a necklace that Jones was wearing.  It was all caught on surveillance and nothing was done to Porter by the league.

It's ok, he will get his in the end.  I believe he wasted all his NFL earnings and will likely have nothing when he loses the only NFL job he could find (instigator against the other team) ends.

If a steeler commits a crime and pays off the woman with a seven(!)-figure settlement, did it ever happen?

If a steeler commits a foul and it isn't called, did it ever happen?

Apparently, the answer in both cases is no.

Best post of the year.

It was a M*A*S*H unit out there by the end of the game.

Leon Hall could barely stand.
CLH was covering their WRs
Josh Shaw looked lost at what the call was before each snap, but played very well
Shawn Williams didn't miss a beat taking over for Reggie.

They still held them down.

It was so odd the amount of rain that fell, but it completely stopped for the steelers last drive.  The Bengals still had them if not for flags.

Agreed, the officiating did look somewhat lopsided toward penalizing the Bengals, and turning a blind eye to the Steelers.

What in the hell is that supposed to mean?  Ben went down on a perfectly legal tackle.  The officials let the game go out of control when there was no foul for Mike Munchak trying to dislocate Reggie Nelson's elbow, on the sideline.

Is it really that hard to remove yourself from the situation? There's a reason people bait those 2, they'll always bite.

What do you mean "Who cares what Joey Porter was doing?"  The opposition is allowed to blatantly ignore the rules, yet the home team is supposed to just accept it, and pretend like it's ok?

What I mean is what I said. There was no flag. All of the complaining in the world will not change that fact. Instead of complaining about what we can and can't get away with, we should be holding our players to a higher standard. We should be able to expect our players to keep their composure and seal the deal.

Yes, Porter should have been flagged, but that's not why we lost. Beating that dead horse isn't going to change anything. We need to hold our coaches and players responsible for their actions and move on from there.

So many non effing football plays we're complaining about. We won if hill didn't fumble, that is a football play that was our own fault. And it must be penalized with being cut or trade. You can't get away with that and be on the Bengals team. It doesn't send a good message. Something has to be done with Peko's idiocy. Adam and Burfict's talent level can trump some of their idiocy, but not peko and hill.

It'll be interesting to see the complete list of fines and suspensions from this game.  The whole "we should hold ourselves to a higher standard" ideal is great, until you're in the heat of competition, and realize that the rules aren't being enforced equally.  The officiating crew showed the Steelers staff that they could get away with whatever they wanted to do, when Munchak wasn't ejected for putting his hands on a player, early on in the game.  In fact, the situation with Porter should have been offsetting, and at worst only one 15 yard PF enforced for the hit on Brown.

AJ McCaron also fumbled and threw interceptions...should he be cut or traded also?  With everything that went on you want to cut Jeremy Hill.  Give me a break

Around the time Gio got knocked out of the game, emotions were high. I could sense something bad was gunna happen. Then Ben got hurt on a legal hit.

That is an apples to oranges comparison, and you know it.

Several times Hill has been benched for fumbling.  McCarron is a young QB, filling in for the veteran leader.  Of course he is going to make mistakes.
