Khalid Kareem poached

From my memory, Kareem wasn't labeled as a pass rush specialist and only cost them a 5th round pick.
Ossai is supposed to be a pass rusher but cost them a valuable high 3rd round pick when they desperately needed o-linemen. That's my biggest hang up with him and his lack of productivity at this point. They already had two starters in newly signed Hendrickson and were in negotiations to extend Hubbard. They spent their high third rounder(Ossai) and high fourth rounder(Sample) on scheduled backup DEs before drafting a developmental T in Smith. All they had added to a QB killing, shit o-line at that point was Rieff on a one year deal and Jackson ***ing Carman from the day before. I thought, "He must've been too good to pass up. He needs to improve the pass rush immediately to prove that he's worthy of a draft slot that high."

Getting a sack against the Falcons near the tail end of a blowout is pace for two or three sacks a year and that's not improving the pass rush. Until he shows something in an important game, like Kareem has already done, he's a bust that should have been an o-lineman. All we heard was Chase or Sewell. Basically "Tremendous Athlete vs Glaring Need". Nowhere in there was it anything like Chase or Sewell and then FINALLY get a couple of backup DE because that's pretty much all he and Sample have shown themselves to be.

People loved Carl Lawson around here because of how much pressure he put on the QB, though he never had high sack numbers.

Ossai has twice the pressure per snaps that Lawson had his rookie year.

Lawson also had 8.5 sacks his rookie year. He would’ve had the franchise rookie record if it weren’t for Aaron Rodgers snapping the ball to catch 12 men on the field. Whomever it was was inches away from making it off the field and had no impact on the play but the sack was negated. How many sacks has Ossai had? He better get a move on Wink

He def needs to pick up the pace but i don't know how much (percentage-wise) they're playing him on the edge. I've seen him a lot in the middle.

The main ability is availability, Kareem just couldn't stay healthy, too bad, I liked the guy. Good hands to shed blocks.

Hoping Ossai plays more and Sample plays better, that first TD for Harris was bad by Cam not setting the edge.

The Colts and Bengals had a classic roster war a few years back over DeDe Dorsey.  He bounced back and forth a few times.  Bad blood with Indy?

Regardless, I remember thinking that no player got punished for making plays like Dorsey.  He took a screen pass 80 yards one game and was immediately benched.  Blocked a punt, recovered it, scored a TD....was immediately benched.

Yeah, really frustrated me at the time. Seemed that happened a few times at least with Marv's teams.

Players shined but it didn't matter, unlike what we just saw from Trenton Irwin who just got rewarded for his good play.

Hope they do the same with Trayveon if he continues to play well.

I still can't believe this is Irwin's fourth year on the PS, and now he makes the team.  No wonder why the guys love him so much.  Zac said he thinks Irwin has a room somewhere in the building because he is always there.  I friggin LOVE when I see hard work and dedication pay off.  He just got a MAJOR pay raise!  Good for you, TI.

No doubt, great post that I just completely agree with in every facet. TI must be a smart dude for Zac to say something
like that. Smarts are the most underrated quality in sports honestly. It can beat out talent.

Don’t quote me on this, but it was either last year or the year before Irwin made the initial 53. I think by the end of that season he was back on the PS.

Completely agree.  I was going to be snarky and list some talented former Bengals that were idiots, but I decided to stay positive.  Can't wait for this game.

I will be excited to watch OSU vs. TTUN, but it won't even be in the same universe as Bengals vs. Titans.  For me, that is...

I know I’m late to the party here but this one cut me to the core.
