Last Minute First Mock
#1
Throwing a quick mock up before the draft. It will probably miss completely, but worth taking a shot. I know the talent on the line is not very deep, at least at end, but I went for value in a lot of places instead of DL.

1. Josh Doctson - WR- TCU

The Bengals need a playmaker across from A.J. Green and Doctson fits the mold. He's got tons of a talent and even with a learning curve he can at least draw double teams away from Green and open up the middle of the field for Eifert.

2. Artie Burns - CB - Miami

This draft is short on corners who can play in man coverage, especially in the later rounds. Burns is a playmaker who has time to develop with the current situation. Yes, the Bengals have depth there, but Kirkpatrick is a question mark and there is always a need for talent at CB.

3. Jihad Ward - DT - Illinois

Ward is a versatile DL who can play both inside and outside and is pretty athletic for someone his size. There are some issues with his game, but his upside is the key here and it's tremendous. He has a chance to grow as a player and not get forced into first year duty.

4- Miles Killebrew - S - Southern Utah

Killebrew is the perfect guy for the way the NFL is changing. He played safety at Southern Utah, but can be a versatile Nickel LB, which will allow the Bengals to get creative with their roster.

5- Chris Moore - WR - Cincinnati

Admittedly, this may be a homer pick, but Moore has the speed and hands to be able to become an interesting player at this mark in the draft. He's got room to grow, but could step in and play at the moment. There's some things he has to work on, but will provide depth at a position of need.

6- Landon Turner - OG - UNC

A guy who can dominate in the run game, Turner lacks some athleticism, but can bulldoze people in front of him. Turner's got potential and could easily be a guy you could rely on in goalline sets as an extra OL and a guy to develop for the future.

7 - Elandon Roberts - LB - Houston

An under-recruited LB out of college, Roberts was a tackling machine at Houston last year when he got a chance to play for the Cougars. Can be the type who is depth at LB and in special teams. Tough player and a leader, which is a nice find in round 7.
