One of the podcasts I frequently listen to touched on this and I was happy to see the clip online.

Former GA Gov Lester Maddox "debates" Jim Bown on the Dick Cavett show.  12/18/1970.

It is an interesting look into how some racist people perceive themselves and their "cause" even to this day.

Fascinating.  Segregationist Maddox doesn't know any white people who are prejudiced against blacks.

I agree it is sad that 50 years later we still have racist that have that mentality.

Nonetheless I shared it because the podcast (very interesting btw) had played pieces of it and I found a look into the mind of a proudly open racist no matter when it was from.
