Madden NFL franchise greats sim
#1
My apologies in advanced if this isn't the right forum for such a topic.

Bleacher Report is going to do a tournament sim of NFL franchises using a team of franchise greats. I think it's a fun idea:

Man, I don't know,,,The Bengals have a lot of individual players that were really good.

Boomer, Anderson, Palmer
Munoz, Montoya, Willie, Kozerski, Braham
Ocho, Collinsworth, Scott, Pickens,
Dillon, Brooks, Johnson and Johnson
McGee, Trumpy, Holman

Riley, Hall, Pacman, Parrish
Williams, Simmons, Spikes, Thurman, Francis, Leclair
Krumrie, Smith, Edwards, Bacon, Browner
Fulcher, Cassanova, Jackson

If it includes currents you would have Green, Dunlap, Geno, Whit to name a few...

BTW...in the original Tecmo bowl the 1988 Bengals were a tough team even with the Bo Jackson glitch...Fulcher could chase him doen

For sure dude, Fulcher was a gem in the game.  One dude on defense could dominate.

It's a media outlet using the Madden game to sim a tournament of franchise GOATS since they don't have real sports to cover.

James Brooks, RB (88 OVR)

Chad Johnson, WR (92 OVR)

A.J. Green, WR (90 OVR)

Anthony Munoz, OL (99 OVR)

Andrew Whitworth, OL (93 OVR)

Willie Anderson, OL (90 OVR)

Max Montoya, OL (87 OVR)

Bob Johnson, OL (83 OVR)

Geno Atkins, DL (92 OVR)

Coy Bacon, DL (87 OVR)

Tim Krumrie, DL (87 OVR)

Carlos Dunlap, DL (86 OVR)

I wonder does Myles Garrett’s suspension end before this simulation?

It's hard to rate an all time team. Do you rate the players on their dominance during their time period? Careers? Or how they'd translate into today's nfl? If you do how they played during their era, there would be too many 95+ overalls I'd believe. As many of these players are HoF players I'd imagine they were top 5 at their postition for most of their career.

That being said I do think Anderson, Akins, Chad, Willie are all underrated or other comparable players from other teams are overrated. Also how is Jackson rated as high as hall? That's an odd rating to me

Carl Pickens should be ahead of both TJ and Collinsworth.

Takeo Spikes > Vontaze Butfict. No contest.

Corey Dillon should be rated higher IMO. If you take into account of the teams he played on for the bulk of his career, then it's all that more remarkable. What he did here, for those that actually saw and remember it, was pretty amazing.

The fact that William Jackson is on here is absolutely ridiculous. Joseph was far superior to both him and Hall.

You can actually watch this thing online:

I'm probably into this more than others, but hey it's the offseason!

Bengals ranked at #28, ouch: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2883401-the-br-goat-sim-ranking-the-top-10-contenders#slide2

They basically surmised we suck except for Munoz.

I'd argue that both Tory James and Deltha O'Neill should be there before either of them.

Should Icky or Lorenzo Neal show up at FB?

What about Brian Simmons and James Francis at LB?

Why is Krumrie ranked so low?

Why does every other team have a kicker and punter, but we don't? Who would be our special teams guys? Huber? Graham? Breech?

Joseph is probably on the Texans' roster.

There is hope for the Bengals in this Madden GOAT Franchise Sim. Yesterday's results:

Panthers beat Falcons (McCaffrey with the OT TD run)
Redskins beat Cowboys (Sammy Baugh with a a game winning drive for the Redskins)
Patriots beat Dolphins
Jaguars beat Colts (goes to show you video game land is different)

Who is the Steelers QB?  If the teams were created by the current generation who believe the world began the day they were born, it's probably Fat Jen.
