He basically extends the field 10 yards on every possession in the other teams side of the field.

He is two less first downs you need to get, at the other teams 38-40 yard line, to score 6 points. (Two FGs).

I think hes going to be a fantastic franchise kicker.

That is what Callahan said, he affects play calling because the FG line is now about 10 yards closer than it previously was.

Not sure I agree with Callahan. Kid has distance and is accurate. However, the last think you want him to do is run out there kicking 50 yarders.

Why not?  The kid kicked a 60 yarder in high school.  Let that sink in!

Realistically, you can't expect him to do it every time.

Maybe....but then there's that guy in our division that has won a lot of games with long distance kicks. This guy could be the difference in all of those close losses we've suffered because of inaccurate or weaker legged kickers.

I've got a buddy who has twins in High School, and they are kickers. He's sent them to kicking camps, etc, since they were toddlers it seems. He showed me a video the other day of the bigger one hitting from 57 out, and he's a sophomore I think. Sooner or later, the NFL is going to have to move the posts again, or narrow them or we'll have guys kicking from 70 yards out. Maybe make it a moving goal post??? Hilarious

Impossible.

Someone did a video on how far a ball can be possibly kicked, by a human and I believe it was 69 yards or something; it's like how you can only make an engine with so much horsepower: it's impossible to go over a certain amount.

So 69 yds. out then instead of 70....

When Naismith invented basketball and set the goal at 10 feet, he did so that the goal would have be tossed in to, instead of thrown or dunked, ala Duck on a Rock. Of course, back then your centers were 6'2, forwards were 6' and guards were usually 5' something. Now we have 6'5"-7 footers all over the place and the whole league plays above the rim.

It'll be the same with kickers. I remember a friend of the family, Danny Shepherd, who kicked for UC way back when and the big deal made when he won a game with a 50 yarder. Now almost everyone can hit from 50.

Same with golf and the PGA courses having to "Tiger proof" them and make them longer.
