When Ditka was in grade school, millions of black students sat in segregated classrooms. Even in his home state of PA, segregation, legally abolished in the late 1800's, didn't fully end until the 70's.

When Ditka was 16, Emmet Till was lynched and the murderers were acquitted.

When Ditka was 21 and finally able to vote, the majority of Black Americans could not vote do to race based voter suppression laws.

When Ditka was 26, citizens were beaten by police for having the audacity is peacefully march for their right to vote.

I'm not sure how Ditka somehow missed the Civil Rights movement occurring and breaking down Jim Crow America, but his comments are an absolute joke.
