Mulligan Trade Mock
#1
After all of the uproar and dislike, let’s give this another try…

Ok, so hear me out.  Hue Jackson likes to trade for QBs from Cincinnati, and it just so happens that in this year’s draft there is not a dominant #1 QB prospect.  So what does he do? He trades his 1 & 2 picks to the Bengals for McCarron plus the Bengals 1 and 2 picks.  Think about it, the Bengals get exactly what they would hope for in this situation.  Top of the round picks in the two most vital rounds of the draft.  The Browns also get what they want. A QB that has proven some ability (and familiarity with the coach) and all it costs them is moving down in the first 2.  It is a win-win scenario.  With that said, this is what I want to happen… I believe we lost Marvin Jones in FA, as well as some vital members of the secondary and LB corps.

1st Round
Jalen Ramsey – S – Florida State - 6’1” 204 lbs.
Reason: Possibly lost Nelson/Iloka in FA.

2nd Round
Will Fuller – WR – Notre Dame – 6’0” 184 lbs.
Reason: Replacement for MJ.

3rd Round
Maliek Collins – DT – Nebraska – 6’2” 300 lbs.
Reason: Bolster the Dline depth.

4th Round
Eric Striker – OLB – Oklahoma – 6’0” 221 lbs.
Reason: Bolster the pass rush and LB position.

5th round
Cayleb Jones – WR – Arizona – 6’3” 215 lbs.
Reason: WR depth, upside pick after losing MJ.

6th Round
Mike Jordan – CB – Missouri Western State – 6’0” 200 lbs.
Reason: Jones and Hall are getting older.  Could lose Jones in FA.

7thRound
Kyle Friend – C – Temple – 6’2” 305 lbs.
Reason: Bodine is the weak link on the O-line.

Why would they do that when they can just get a QB with there 2nd pick and keep there 2nd round pick for some other use and not downgrade?

I don't see why they would.. But interesting choices.. I wouldn't mind picking Ramsey ... but I'd want to trade down and acquire more picks to around #5-7 pick and I think Ramsey could be available there.

By making the trade Hue can get a QB he is familiar with and build his team, and still have a 1st and 2nd round pick to use for other positional needs. so with the trade this is how it would work...

Browns get: McCarron, Bengals 1st and Bengals 2nd
Bengals get: Browns First and Browns 2nd

Ultimately allowing us to move up in both of the first 2 rounds.

Read the paragraph and you will realize that I assume the same thing.

I thought for a second "he" returned.

Striker in theory could be someone's Deone Bucannon, but that's an irregularity and can't be expected to emulate correctly everywhere else.

I guess another question with this trade is....who is our back up qb? You might have to draft one?

I'm fairly confident that he is one of the AJM fanboys

I'm a Dalton fan 100%. I feel like McCarron's value is as high as it is ever going to be.

You could go the draft route for a backup, but this isn't a deep QB class. I would go with free agent option. There is sure to be a cost effective, serviceable backup in FA.

You just caused a brief moment of panic for those unfortunate enough to deal with him on the old board.

The upside on the top QBs in this draft is higher than AJMc. I really dont think Hue would have any interest when he has access to Goff or Wentz.

My fear is Wentz is another Roethlessturd and then Derrick Henry is sitting there for them in the 2nd plus they get Gordon back. They could get dangerous quick.

If by some miracle we ended up with the 2nd overall pick i would take Bosa all day. If not him trade back and cash in on the gold mine of a top 2 pick.

Goff is a system QB. It will not translate to the nfl. I do like Wentz, but I wouldn't gamble on him in the first. Blake Bortles had upside too but has been garbage. I would rather have a steady, consistent McCarron. And Henry will be garbage in the nfl. I'll guarantee that lol.
