Montana Libertarain denied debate stage
#1
So, yeah... this is what I've been doing the past couple of days.
I've been spreading this story and poking KTVQ.
First they deny Mark Wick, saying he needs 5% to get on stage.... he gets 5%+ in three polls, then they say HE needs to prove to them that he has the 5% and it's not their job to look at the polls and that they don't find the polls credible.
They've been deleting their comments, as we badger them on social media.

Cool Side Note: I did get to chat a little with Nicholas Sarwark's wife, Valerie. She's a heck of an activist in her own right and has a bit of a temper...lol

Quote:Voters Deserve a Fair Debate
By Michael Fucci

Friends,
We need your help! Mark Wicks, our Libertarian candidate for US House, has been excluded from appearing in this special election's one and only debate on Saturday, April 29th. Apparently, the debate's host, KTVQ, has determined that the one hour they've allotted for this important event would "best be used" by rigging the game in favor of the two old parties.
KTVQ News Director, Jon Stepanek, informed Mr.Wicks that after private discussions with other MTN news directors, they decided that due to self-imposed time constraints, Montana voters would only be able to hear from two of the three candidates appearing on their ballots on May 25th. We at the MTLP feel this decision is arbitrary and only serves to shield the establishment parties from competition in the marketplace of ideas. Voters deserve to know where each of the three candidates stand on the important issues facing them and their families. What they do not deserve is to have their choices limited by a small group of news directors.
This is how you can help challenge the rigged game:
Email Jon Stepanek @ jstepanek@ktvq.com and Shawn Wilcox the General Manager of KTVQ @ swilcox@ktvq.com. Please be courteous, but let them know in no uncertain terms that you want to hear from all three candidates on the ballot.
Call KTVQ @ (406) 252-5611. Flood their lines! Make sure your voices are heard!
Comment on KTVQ's House Debate Facebook post here and here, and then leave a visitor post here.
Tweet them @ KTVQ. #LetMarkWicksDebate #FairDebates
Share this article and ask your friends to do the same!
Let's light up their lines for liberty!
Sincerely,
Michael Fucci
Communications Director
Montana Libertarian Party

P.S. Mr. Stepanek and other MTN news directors, you still have time to reverse course and allow the voters of Montana a chance to hear from all three candidates so that they may cast their ballots with confidence next month. It is our expectation that you will do the right thing for Montana voters and provide them that opportunity.

The Feldman Foundation

In response to the utter lack of communication, honesty, integrity, and openness of fair debates in the Montana Special Election for the open U.S. House of Representatives seat, it will now be duly noted that we are filing an FEC complaint against Q2 News for their exclusion of Mark Wicks in this weekend's debate.
Mr. Wicks HAS met the station's imaginary polling criteria in three polls.
We highly encourage everyone to do the same. And share this far and wide. But, write your own post and TAG THE STATION EACH TIME. They NEED to see that we are not giving up this fight.
Instructions on how to file a complaint are in the link below.

Can't you guys just pay the professional fake protestors like everybody else?

The guy done a great job, for someone that only had 24 hours to prepare and this being the first TV coverage he's had.

It felt SO good to see him there and know that I really helped make a difference.
I think I'm addicted to activism, now...lol

Interesting. I grew up in Montana.  Libertarians should have a good chance there to take votes from Republicans.

Sad we get two senators but only one representative.

Yeah, what's the determining factor there ?
Just population and how it's distributed amongst the state ?

Pssst,

Don't tell anyone, but we are a one party country anymore.

And somewhere across the oceans in a plush bunker beneath the Kremlin, Vlady Putin is watching newsreels of the Kitchen Debate and just laughing and laughing!

Those are some magnificent red angus in your sig B-zona.  You rarely saw them back in Montana when I was a youngster. Now they are everywhere.  I guess I am a little homesick because I am still staring at that picture.

Yes. They are excellent specimens and in great shape. Obviously very well cared for. The one in the foreground almost looks like its looking at the camera. ThumbsUp

Update:

The Feldman Foundation has officially endorsed and will be offering support to Mark Wicks, in full capacity.

I guess we get to see how good we are.

Mr. Wicks and I are now Facebook friends.
Cool

Good stuff beast.

While reading through this i couldnt help but think if a 3rd party candidate had a better chance running as independent, or libertarian. The Paul's have kind have stolen the association of libertarian imo.

After this last presidential race. Mr. johnson made an impression on the country as a libertarian.

I just think in this political atmosphere the title independent is the most attractive.

Thanks !
I respect all political affiliations. I just want equal access, cooperation, and results.
No more bullshiting everyone to satisfy donors and hemming in job security.
It might be small, but things are changing.

The Libertarian platform and my views align on many issues especially when it comes to individual liberty. But, where we don't agree is this idea that industry and individuals will kinda work shit out on their own for the benefit of the group without government watchdogs and organizations like the EPA are government over reach. Seeing what happened in Iraq convinced me of that.

Is the federal government and spending too big and too much? Yes. But, the Libertarian party goals go too far in their desire to reduce the federal government's roles in my opinion.

I actually agree with you.
We need some oversight.

It may seem odd, but you do not have to subscribe to the entire platform in order to be a part of the Libertarian Party. (Most subscribe to the 80/20 rule)
It's pretty much a spectrum of Classic Liberalism to Anarchists.
The yearning for individual liberty is so strong that we respect one another's intricate, utopian dream.
Right now, we will work on all the things we agree on and maybe fight at the fork in the road later...lol
Of course, if you look on Facebook, we're all at each others throats, every day.
Not me, of course.
I'm awesome like that.
