Great work if you can get it.  One of the few positions where a guy doesn't want his name called.

Only time I can recall Clark Harris' name being talked about in a game was when he got hurt, I think like two years ago, and played through it like a champ even though he was clearly in lots of pain. Didn't mess up a single snap.

In all fairness, he does get downfield and make ST tackles on occasion.

You really gotta wonder just how tough it is to snap the ball to a kicker or holder but I suppose you gotta be better than the average bear at it..

Perhaps we should ask Brad St. Elmo or whatever his name is.  I believe he single handedly kept us out of the playoffs one year.

It's more an issue of how you have to do it over and over, time and time again, with zero faults. LS easily leave the league if they make 1 or 2 mistakes. You do something for years and years knowing that you're under the pressure that if you mess up even just once or twice, your career is over.

You also have to live with the knowledge that there's only 32 spots available, there are no backup LS, you'll never make a practice squad, and ever single college team has a LS who wants one of your 32 spots.

QBs are allowed to miss throws. RBs can have an occasional fumble. WRs can have an occasional drop. Kickers who kick 85% are pretty much guaranteed employment. LS are in a state of perfection or unemployment. Only position in the NFL that has that.

They talked about that in the article. I guess he was really good for 6-7 years then had that bad snap against Denver and it messed him up mentally. Of course he was still here another few years after it...but one year costed us 7 points with bad snaps in a year.

It's a total repetition position where you have to just practice for hours and hours.
