Bengals Improved Pass Rush

I'll eat a little, but he still wasn't anything to write home about at DE.  DT?  That's another story.  Whoever decided to move him deserves a raise.

Exactly.  How many times have we seen Big Los downfield chasing ball carriers down from behind, even stripping the ball at times?

It's going to be interesting when the pass rush disappears against the Steelers because they let those motherfuckers get away with copious amounts of holding.

No doubt Muskies. Dunlap might be the most disruptive End in the NFL, he definately is not overrated if anything
the other way around. He wreaks all kinds of havoc with his bend, length, athleticism and strength. He never quits.

Still believed he deserved The Kracken nickname over that other bastid.

Lawson is the guy who has really impressed me this year along with MJ on the inside.

Brilliant stuff going on with Guenther and Burney. Adding a smaller pass rushing specialist and putting MJ at DT =

Brilliant. :andy:

I dont get the MJ hype. he made 2 coverage sacks in one game this year. meanwhile Carlos, Geno n Lawson are creating havoc on every play and actually beating their man off the snap. not just standing there n tackling the QB as he runs into him

Still, MJ is a lot better than i thought he would be and it was a smart move putting him at DT on passing downs.

I have actually seen a lot college teams going to an all DE line on obvious passing downs this year. Paulie must have been paying attention to it!

I'd have to question if you're watching the games if you haven't seen the effort MJ has been putting out this year.

I think he'll start collecting sacks as more teams double team others.
Agree. I have seen Dunlap getting double-teamed while another Bengal takes down the QB. Dunlap is very much contributing. Can you imagine how good he will be rushing against a single blocker once opponents realize they are going to get sacked by someone anyway? Dunlap will be flying around like he just got an anchor lifted off his back.

Maybe a little for wishing for him to be released, but not for how he performed over the last 4 years. He only averaged 4.0 sacks per season over than span. He hasn't been earning his contracts.

Like Wyche said, we should be thanking whoever decided to kick him inside.

The Bengals all-time leader in sacks (58.0) and forced fumbles (16) is overrated. Now I've heard it all.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.

Excellent point.  Lap showed a video of what Geno did to allow MJ a free run at the QB, leading to a sack.  As one of MJ's harshest critics, I will give the guy credit that he has surprised me with his inside ability.  He is like a bigger version of Dingleberry.   But, yes, Geno and Dunlap are creating a lot in the middle.

This.  Yet, this makes me puzzled as to why Dre seems to be struggling.  He (Dre) is a notorious slow starter, but what Dennard is doing with his minimal game-playing experience is somewhat amazing compared to Dre and Jones.

I think the next thing we will see is QBs feeling that pressure even when they aren't getting home, rushing throws, and getting INTs.

Future sure looks a whole lot brighter with these guys out there.  Glasgow is very impressive for a rookie DT.  Love his tenacity.  I think he can evolve in to a Derek Wolfe-type player.  A lot of VERY high DTs (in terms of draft order) don't have an impact their first year or two, but Glasgow, as a fourth rounder, is proving to be a very solid player.

I'm a little disappointed in Billings thus far, but I am convinced the light will go on.  Physically, he has unmatched strength and athleticism at his position.

Love Willis, Lawson, and Chris Smith from Jax.  These guys will only make a bigger impact as the season goes on.

The Bengals have been doing it for sometime now. Fanane Gilberry Hunt Clarke all those guys have moved inside.

Difference is they have a talented group of pass rushers on this outside this season.

To the OP: I love the way Lawson rushes the passer. He knows his limitations and how to get around them. Lawson doesn't have great bend that you see from alot of the better rushers but he's able to turn his shoulders to make it harder for OT to get their hands on him.
