My university can't stop stepping in it
#1
Many of you know I work for James Madison University, it's no secret and I don't say anything that would impact my job on here. So it's no big deal that I put it out there.

I just had to share these three stories, because JMU just can't get on their feet, lately, before some other news hits.

Now, as I am an employee I will refrain from saying too much. All I will say is that I can't decide whether or not I like the fact we seem to be aggravating the right-wing media outlets. The middle story is really the most significant one, and because it is the focus of a lawsuit I definitely will not get into it much, but I can definitely say it is the one which makes me the most uncomfortable with the university's actions.

The second one is difficult. But the third one is just silly.

Any business professor teaching ethics--even "accounting" ethics--should devote some class time to defining ethics generally.
That requires a range of diverse, hypothetical examples, the less about business the better. THEN bring the topic back to business
accounting or whatever.

But the Federalist report proceeds as if, well, a course on business ethics should only employ examples of business ethics. That's all.
That would make sense to people who have never studied or taught ethics, I guess. And presto--another example of the professors
teaching stuff they shouldn't while NOT teaching what they should. Looks like people should be teaching businesss in business courses, not "expanding students' critical thinking abilities."

I can't help notice the incest example is then immediately followed, in the same article, by the flap over teaching DEI to student campus guides--another example of professors out of control? Not doing their job?

Surpised we weren't presented with the remedy now frequently advanced:
