On pace for over 50 sacks again
#1
We are doing better since first two games but last two games had 3 sacks each still, still lead the league with 24 with 10 games left if average 2 1/2 sacks a game Joe will be sacked for over 50 for past two years...

When you drop back to pass so much, sacks are bound to happen eventually.  The defensive guys on the other side are professionals, too.

Look on the bright side, after the Steeler game, they were on pace to give up 117 sacks for the season.

That’s a great comeback
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

The flip side is, Joe's Pressure Percentage (% of dropbacks he gets pressured on) is 19.5%, which is tied for 11th best.  The big issue remains the extremely high Pressure to Sack rate.  Joe has taken 24 sacks, while Herbert has only taken 10 at the same 19.5% Pressure Percentage.

Joe Burrow and Sacks IMO will always be an issue. Unfortunately it's his play style.

However the last two game he is getting the ball out quicker and will cut down on the sacks.

I saw this earlier and thought it was relevant.

If we have 24 now, and average 2.5 for the remaining 10 games, that only gets us to 49.

I do think we probably get above 50 though, and we’re currently pacing to go above that.

we are 6th right now and just 14 attempts out of being 16th... so still high on sacks compared to league

last two games we had 6 sacks.. which would avg over 50 in a season.. Burrow might end up like Luck sadly, already one major injury in his early career

Once the run game gets better it will give the opposing defense something else to think about and sacks, hurries, and knockdowns will decrease.

Perhaps but Luck gave up football partly because IMO he didn't love the game.

Luck is a smart guy he chose the $$$ he made and bounced... no one blames him for that.

Flip side is Burrow has been around football his entire life.. his dad was a coach.  He loves the game and yes while we don't want Burrow to get killed he isn't going to quit on football until his talent runs out.

Andrew Luck's father may not have been a coach but he was a former NFL QB and worked in professional sports his entire post-playing career including a stint as the CEO of NFL-Europe.  Andrew Luck didn't love football enough to give up his other interests but it was not because of lack of exposure to the game as a child

This ^^^^^^^^^and Joe needs to swallow his pride and throw it away at the RB's feet at times when nothing is available.

He did throw some away out of bounds in the Falcons game though, so maybe he is trying but old habits are hard to break.

Plus he threw the ball a whopping 42 times with 3 sacks. Dropping back 45 times allows the defense to pin their ears back as well.

But to OP, yes we all want Joe hit less often and a good run game could help in that area.

The line is playing better and better no reason to think they will average giving up 2.5 sacks/game the rest of the year.

You keep pumping hard negatives against this oline...

As mentioned above; over the last 5 games, the Bengals offensive line has been charged with 8 total sacks - that's 1.6 sacks per game.  They are improving.

BTW, that terrible oline is:
2nd in the league in total yards at 2,120
3rd in the league in yards per game at 302.9
3rd in the league in touchdowns.

He doesn't like Pollack and Burrow.
