Black History Month Salute To FRANK ROBINSON
#1
Reds great was :
First black Manager in MLB
First black player to hit for Triple Crown
First player of any color to win MVP in both National and American League
Among first of black players to win Rookie of Year Award
Among first of black players to win MVP Award.
Among first of black players to win World Series MVP Award.
Among first of black players to hit over 500 home runs.
Among first of black players to be in MLB Hall of Fame.
His number retired in both Cincinnati and Baltimore.

So a combo of Black History Month and Reds History. As the announcers words echo in Crosley Field History
" In Right Field, Number 20, Frank Robinson.....Robinson. "

Other black Ohio stars of that 1950's & 1960's era were Oscar Robertson of Royals. Jim Brown of Browns. Bengals came later, but their first star was Paul Robinson as Browns had Leroy Kelly. WLW 1960's Station in Indy had Pacers Roger Brown.

FRANK ROBINSON, Salute.

Each of these men fought barriers along with their greatness in sports. I don't blame history because that's just the way things were in those days. However, we have advanced as a society to put that crap behind us.
