Poker Tonight- HORRIBLE LUCK!
#1
I was playing a cash game of poker online because I'm in a Facebook group where we all play.

I was down $480 at one point and I got lucky and sucked out on a dude, so I'm back up about $30 on the night.

I get dealt pocket aces in the big blind and the dude under the gun raises to $10, which there were two more callers, so three people in the pot when it got back to me. The one guy only has something like $121 and the other two have close to a grand, so they can afford to call and they both have been pretty aggressive, so I'm thinking that I need to make them pay to see it and I raise it to $40 because they've been calling with nothing all night and catching. The one with $121 calls but the other two fold.

The flop comes ace, ace, six.

QUADS.

Mad

Pissed

Rant

Bang Head

I check and the guy pushes so I end up winning something like 150, but if I bet smaller and the other two call and then that guy ends up pushing after the flop and maybe one or both of the other two call, but then I win twice as much and maybe even more if they hit and bet big.

It was good luck and horrible luck at the same time. I guess it all evens out because of my suck-out earlier.

How in the hell does someone call a $121 bet pre-flop and not throw in another $40 to at least see the flop? Especially with that pot!!! (4 blinds + 4 $121 calls... and you don't want to spend $40 more to get value????)

Also, I have so many questions...

1.) Are these real dollar amounts you're betting with or are these chip counts (like a $10 buy in gets you "$1500" in chips)?

2.) How you able to use facebook to gamble? Does your group use another site to play, but posts the details on facebook?

3.) How do you work getting your money in and out of the site? Do you just select a free game and Venmo eachother?

Fwiw, I was super bummed when they banned online poker back in the day. I spend entirely way too much time on Full Tilt playing for money. If there is a workaround for me to be able to play online again and legally cash out then I'd be estatic.

Maybe I described that wrong.

He raised to $12 and two people called.  It came around to me as the dealer and I raised to 40, and the guy that raised to 12 called and then the two guys behind him folded.

1.  These are real dollar amounts.  They do have some tournaments but my attention span never lasts long enough so I only play in cash.  I was in a group where we'd play a single table tourney and the bottom four would pay the top four but that died off.

2.  We're in a group and we use an ap on our phones.  You can buy-in for whatever and play for as long as you want.  The next day, the mods of the group assign people that lost money to pay people who won money.  Basically what you said lol.

3.  PayPal or Venmo mostly but also things like CashApp, Reddit, and maybe a few others.

I was also super-bummed when they banned it because it was just when I was getting into it more and more.  I was in college and playing on PartyPoker but then also gambling on NFL games on sites like Sportsbook (that's what the app was called).  Now that I think about it, I think I also played poker on Sportsbook.

Oh, ok.  I misread it.  I just saw the $121 and somehow confused that for his raise.  That makes a lot more sense.

Man, maybe I should create a facebook account and try to find a group on there to play with.  I didn't even know they had an app for creating your own games.

PS Are you secretly loaded, Brad?  A big game for me back in the day was a $100 buy-in.  Spent most of time in $10 and $20 games.  And here you are playing cash games with that kind of coin...  Your guy's game sound way too rich for my blood.  Especially since I got a decade of rust on me.  (Me and all my friends got old and finding a live game is next to impossible.)

I don't know anything about online poker, but it seems like there would have to be some neutral dealer or random card generator. Otherwise it would be too easy to cheat.

If you do get on Facebook, let me know and I'll vouch for you to get in our group.

The group where the bottom finishers pay the top finishers was typically only 40 and 50 dollar games, but you can buy-in for $100 to $400 in this cash game.  I typically go for $300 and so do most other people.  I'm actually on government assistance, although I am secretly loaded with a settlement from our own insurance after the wreck that not many people know about  Hilarious, but all that money is in a trust, so I can't use it for things like this.  I bought in a few nights ago with no money in my account (hadn't played in a little while), so I would have been screwed if I lost, but I actually won a little over $300, then a little over $300 again the next night, and then $150 the next night, but then I was up over $100 last night, took a bad beat, went on tilt, and ended up losing all $300 of my buy-in.

What app to you guys use to all together on?

I'm thinking it could be cool for me and a bunch of buddies to get on and use to play money games.

PS If this is easy as i think it is, we should totally start a Bengalsboard room where people can get together and play.  I'm so starved for a decent game with actually dollars I'd be cool with doing one with a $5 buy in.

We use Pokerrrr 2.

BengalsBoard game might be cool.  The double up games that I mentioned where the bottom 4 pay the top 4 and 5th is free might be a good idea because then it's not much money.  Then again I really don't know what kind of stakes you're thinking because you said $5 but did you just mean that for the blinds or total buy-in?  We play with the blinds at 1-2 but it's no limit so pots can get pretty big.

Just a $5 or $10 total buy-in, no limit.

On a 10 person game the payouts would be something like:

$5 buy-in
1st - 30
2nd -15
3rd - 5

$10 buy in
1st - 60
2nd - 30
3rd - 10

Fwiw, from my old online days I'm used to the format of you start with 1,500 in chips and the game starts with 25/50 (small/big) blinds, and goes up every 15 or 20 minutes.

I don't know if people on here would do it, or if they'd pay out, but I definitely be down if anyone on here wanted to get a game going.

I was down a few hundred tonight because I had monsters but then let two dudes catch up and hit their draws but then I ended up coming back and I'm up $306 now.

Thinking about playing again but this girl I met while she was in college is confessing a lesbian experience to me so ThumbsUp

Hilarious

She’s telling you. Not ‘confessing’. Power playing this one ain’t gonna get it wet Brad. Just sayin. Good luck tho.

Deuces.

Had some bad luck again tonight that turned into good luck.

I bought in for $300, was up $240, but lost some of that so I was up $160 still.

I'm dealt pocket kings, one of clubs and one of diamonds, in mid position and there was a raise to 14 with two callers in front of me, so I raise to 45 and one of the two calls.  Flop comes 8d, 2d, and Qs, and the person bets, so I push, and they call with jack queen.  I'm feeling like I'm in pretty good shape until a queen of diamonds comes on the turn, so I'm thinking "typical, had him crushed, and now he's going to beat me out of most of my money."

Then, river's a diamond and I bring in a pot of $566 with my flush!

Got it up to about $680 or so but then took a few bad beats so now it's at $624.

Good news is that the NKU game is about to come on so I have a good excuse to quit while I'm ahead this much.

Might come back and play later but taking a break is good and something I need to do more often ThumbsUp

I quit playing hold em years ago because of weird ass betting.

Somebody would read a blog and go all in on connected suitors. Somebody else wouldn't have any common sense and would go all in on a 7/2 off suit. And me, the guy with some common sense who folded a pair of fours pre flop would have to take a break after two fours and an ace turned over.

lol that’s the way poker is sometimes.

Tonight, I was up $200, quit to eat dinner, and, instead of just quitting while up 2$200, I got greedy, got back on, and lost 50 of it. Still finished up 150, but I should have quit early.

The problem I have with our group is a bunch of new guys joined and some either play full-time and/or are rich, so the few hundred buy-in means nothing to them and they’ll call you down with nothing and win.
