*Poll Added* March Madness: American Government
#1
Heeeey,

So I was thinking of doing an American Government tournament bracket for my classes, march madness style to get the kids through (and me) until Spring Break,

I was thinking of having these categories:

Founding Fathers

Modern Politicians

Top Presidents

Inspiring Citizens

8 per category. Founding fathers would be something like Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, Hamilton, etc
Modern Politicians: Trump, Obama, Sanders, Pelosi, McConnell, Bush, Hillary, RBG, etc
Top Presidents: Lincoln, JFK, FDR, Reagan, Teddy etc
Inspiring Citizens: MLK Jr, Susan B Anthony, Frederick Douglass, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Harriett Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt etc

In all honesty that's the kind of thing I really liked when I was in school.  Yes, I was a nerd.  Maybe more a geek.

On what basis would these individuals compete?

How would they advance in a bracket?

Sounds like fun!
Good Job and glad you enjoy being a teacher.
We might have our differences in the politics, but from the little I know of you, you do seem like a good teacher.

Much appreciated! I'll post a photo of it when it's done.

I'd say you could separate the brackets into left side of the bracket and right side of the bracket. But it's pretty hard to come up with modern examples of top presidents and inspiring citizens for the right LOL

At first I was like "booo" to your reducing it down, but I can see some good reasons for that.
"A great democracy has got to be progressive, or it will soon cease to be either great or a democracy..." - TR

"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." - FDR

Because as you and I both know, the best President is clearly John Tyler? If only because he has the best Presidential factoid possible....

Born in 1841, became the 10th US President, and yet he has two living grandchildren.

...blows my mind every time I think about it. We're nearly at 180 years after his birth and yet he has living grandchildren.

Yeah that's always awesome to think about.

Well 70 and still kicking them out... You know its 5 times harder for a man over 45 to impregnate a woman than a man at 25?
And this guy didn't have the advantage of Viagra like men his age now do. HAHAH lucky guy!

The actual poll is locked to gmail users in my school system, so I made a copy for just us:

The last bracket has the wrong names.  Not sure which is supposed to be which so I didn't vote yet.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I fixed it. It should have said Clyburn and Graham

Edit: UGH, apparently it wasn't fixed when I fixed it hours ago. Lemme go back now and see if I can fix it again
