Question about Andy at this point in his career.
#1
I'm asking a rather intresting question about
Andy.
This isn't about who hates or loves Andy...
My question is...
At this point in his career can Andy Dalton carry
The offense for a game or 2 if the situation
Called upon it?
Can the Bengals win a game on Andy's arm
And command of the offense.?
I know in the past he's done that.
I can't recall the game.
But can AD just totally take over a Game
At this stage in his career?

Wet and raving
The needle keeps calling me back
To bloody my hands forever
Carved my cure with the blade
That left me in scars
Now every time I'm weak
Words scream from my arm
Don't ever trust the needle....it lies!

I would challenge
anyone who can
post a darker lyric.
One where a person
Gouges out their eyes
For reading broken
Sentences.

Why are you are asking about "this point
in his career"?
Do you think
Dalton
has not fully recovered from his injury?

He looks as good
as ever to
me.

He writes as if he's trying to write Haiku but doesn't understand the rules.

I think the more important question is if the current staff is truly sold on him. Does Taylor want to hitch his wagon to Andy and bet his success on him.

I can see a few things happening here:

1. The team goes 3-13 and finishes with a top 2 pick and takes either Tua or Herbert
2. The team goes 5-11 and finishes with a top 5 pick and takes the #1 OT in the draft and then turns around and takes another interior lineman in R2
3. The team goes 7-9 and basically treads water.

In all of those situations I think Andy is gone. In the 3rd scenario I think the team rolls with Finley next year and "sees what they have"

It all depends on who's on the field with him. Andy goes as the talent around him goes. With AJ down, say we lose Boyd and Willis for two games, can Andy carry the team? No   With a healthy set of receivers? Then he doesn't have to carry the team.

Dalton will likely finish his contract with the Bengals which ends after 2020. I think they will draft a top tier QB this next draft and allow Dalton to help the rookie acclimate to the NFL.

My reasoning is this: Dalton's contract at 17 mil is reasonable but I think an extension would be costly. In addition, Dalton has not won a play-off game. Usually a new coach want his own QB.

That will be an unfair contest.

You know who will win that. There is no substitute for experience.

I agree. This may be Dalton's last year with the Bengals, and I think Andy knows it too. Dalton is basically Auditioning for another team this year. Question is, do they go for Tua/Herbert or try the Trevor Lawrence Lottery the following year. It may be a race to be the worst in 2020.

Life isn't fair...

You've established yourself as the favorite after that heavy shit you dropped on us earlier, but Fred has waxed poetic a time or two. That's the hard part about being king... Someone is always coming for the throne.

Back to the op... Not only can Dalton do it, but he will do it.

I think you are just trying to hijack this thread.

But I doubt there is anything I can do about it.

By the benching of Price and Jordan? starting, it tells me Zac is the type of coach who will not hesitate to use/keep players he feels will achieve his and his coaches' goals. Meaning if he feels Andy doesnt fit his vision, he'll give an earful to the Browns.

Not that uncommon.

Lot's of people refuse to remember anything positive Dalton has ever done.

Andy can carry this team if the Oline does its job. I'm not going to trash Andy and never have, but my one criticism of him has been the same for years, batted balls at the line of scrimmage, it cost us a pick 6 this preseason already. If he ever cleans up this part of his game, he is good enough to lead this team deep into the playoffs, (barring injury of course). All QB's have balls batted down from time to time, but seems Andy is good for one or two a game and some have really been killers. See: J.J. Watt.
