Jean Steratore Said the hit on Burrow was clean because contact was initiated into his chest at the end of the first quarter.

He got absolutely rocked on the chin by the crown of the helmet and we had to listen to the announcers talking shit.

Yeah I thought that was a bit weird. Even if technically it would be legal, in real time it looked like it was helmet to helmet. Also the intent was clear to rock him.
It's easy to see the world in black and white. Grey? I don't know what to do with grey.

The ambiguity in the officiating is certainly annoying within several facets (roughing, PI, catch/no). Some will always be there bc of the human element, but it would be nice if there were a lot less gray area and variance from week to week, player to player, and who's officiating.

Exactly

Brady barely gets touched and there's laundry all over the field. Like 75% of the rest of the QB's get slobber knocked and nothing. Joe got face masked couple weeks ago, in the pocket, ......crickets.

And I get it the human element. But it still seems they make a difference from game to game and QB to QB. I very seriously doubt Steratore's narrative would have been the same with Brady.

That is maddening.

Just out of interest here are the roughing the passer penalties by QB according to this site:

https://www.nflpenalties.com/roughing-the-passer-by-qb.php?view=active

Explanation for each category is provided at the top of each page. Seems they put the information together due to the debate about Brady getting so many calls.

I don't disagree with preferential treatment, but in Burrow's case, i bet he was trying to draw the flag. Casually strolling toward the sideline and flipping the the ball right as the defender is arriving...

If so, that's a dangerous thing to do, but in this case it worked.

Yes and I didn't get the announcer saying Joe was trying to wait for the last second to throw it away because of losing yards  Shocked How the hell does he gain yards from not throwing it away 2 seconds earlier ??

That was a bazaar statement and should not matter much at all in this case anyway.

That was a textbook Hines Ward special cheap shot by lunging the crown of the helmet up and under the face mask.

We dodged a bullet there with Joe not getting a broken jaw. Even if not a QB this should have been called but especially on a QB.

Bet if we did that to "lil Kenny Pickett off and take it to the house", flags would fly from everywhere.
