Dirty Harry for me. Love the first Lethal Weapon. Donnie Brasco was a letdown for me. The old cliche about the book better than the movie lives on.

Greatest shootout of all time, and the bit with the semi-tow truck.  Cast is stellar, easily my favorite cop movie ever made.

That's sort of the problem with some cop movies: where is the cut-off between when it is about the cops and when it is about the bad guys.

I'd say:

1) Serpico
2) Cop Land
3) Chinatown (more of a private detective movie, but I'll include here)
4) Dirty Harry (they are all really sort of the same movie)
5) The Untouchables
6) L.A. Confidential
7)  RoboCop (the original)

I liked Die Hard and Lethal weapon, too. But they are just sort of overplayed for me at this point.

This is a pretty great list.  LA Confidential is my favorite and The Departed isn't far behind.  It's not a movie, but True Detective was a favorite of mine as well.  Training Day make my list, too.

I don't see why not. Dual genre, maybe (Western and Cop movie). But definitely law enforcement, and excellent  ThumbsUp

The original, or the Rock?

Both were okay, but I think I liked the original a little better.

I saw the one staring the Rock on the day it opened. It was in one of the biggest theaters. I was one of four people in the theater for that showing.

Same.  I always seem to like the original better.  I do like the Rock though.

There is an actual 'museum' for this guy, which includes a wall rack of some of the lumber, ax handles, etc he was inclined to fight with.

Yeah that first True Detective was great.

It started slow but was well worth the wait.

If any of you guys have never seen it.  You should.

The second one sucked.  I couldn't get into it.
