RIP Jim. My favorite episode featuring Gomer was the one where he took the car apart and put it back together in the jail. Classic!

We actually ended up playing a lot of his music last night on Amazon. Hadn't heard it since my childhood.

RIP Jim...

If anyone was ever born to play a role, it was him as Gomer Pyle. My sister and I would watch reruns after school and laugh our fool heads off.

In real life, he was pretty far from the character. He was homosexual, pretty intelligent and had a deep baritone voice. But the character he created was certainly believable. I think we have all met our "Gomers" in life, eh.
